Also, assume that we're going based on whatever the general definition of good is. Similar to how a reasonable jury would determine if someone is a good person or not.

Some people claim to not be racist, but it’s just like “well…maybe you’re not acting or feeling racist RIGHT NOW…”, but what if a situation arises that draws your ire, how do you react? Are you mad solely at the action, or will your brain tie the poor behavior in with some sort of prejudice based on that person’s outward appearance? Probably so. Think of a knife that's so rusted, it's almost unusable. Think of that knife as a person. Now think of the rust as the flaws of one's character. Now think of the abrasion on a sharpening wheel to be terrible circumstances in life.

With that knife so covered in rust, when the blade meets wheel, rust is gonna go flying everywhere, hitting everyone nearby. I think the same principle applies with people. Life inevitably WILL at some point test us. If our baggage hasn't been dealt with, everyone nearby will suffer for it. The good traits aren't gonna matter as much in that moment to those you hurt.

However, if you allow the circumstances of life to sharpen you, when you're tested again, the only thing that will be flying around is probably some sparks of perseverance, and the sweet, sharp sound of a well-seasoned character.

I disagree, the worst people can do the most heroic things and vice versa. i think it is really up to chance and ingrained tendencies that really make or break us in that kind of situation, especially if it's very spontaneous, cause nobody is completely black or white in a moral sense. not even el potato

Say you have a person who is very good, but they're used to running FROM dangerous situations or haven't got experience in said situations. Then say you have someone who is very morally corrupt but is used to running INTO dangerous situations. if there were to be a dangerous situation, who do you think would be more likely to take a risk?

Have you watched naruto? in the zabuza arc naruto freezes up even though he doesn't want to, because he's inexperienced. The next time there's danger he protects everyone with his life.

Similar to the example he gave of verbally abusing his ex-girlfriend after she provoked him. Do you believe that if the situation was just as tense and he didn't say hurtful words, it would be a better indicator of how good he is as a person? Rather than how he generally would treat her under calm circumstances?

That they are shortsigthet. Everyone makes mistakes. We all learn from them in one way or another. To judge someone from a single mistake without giving them a chance to correct it is foolish because in that case, literally everyone on this planet could be indefinitely judged for something they did wrong.

in my opinion it'd just be an indicator of how he acted in a particular situation with particular circumstances. He could have acted differently the day after due to different mental states. in my opinion a person can only be judged over the long-term through multiple choices, not after a single choice in a particular situation. Maybe he was feeling irritaded? Maybe he had just suffered a loss of someone and was venting frustration?

It'd be unfair to judge anyone based on just a single situation because any human is rarely if ever in the same mental state at all times.

Also, the purpose of religion is to assume we are the worst of people. But always striving to be the best, and do good where we can. All to seek forgiveness from God and man where we can. It's why religion, and not science or psychology makes laws and civilisations.

There also are numerous cases of people turning over a new leaf or reverting to evil. Thus the video having the "utter bullshit" rating from me. The psychological and neurological pathways of why good people do evil, or evil people turn good, and some people are ambivalent are not fully known or understood. It's near the heart of the "nature vs nurture" debate.

Nah, Worse situations put us into bouts of adrenalene and stress. Things that alter our decision making. I believe self control and our brains are a massive factor of who we are and throwing them off balance wouldn't give an accurate result of the type of person we are
