That said, there are definitely a lot of toxic people out there. I’m not convinced dating is necessarily toxic. If two kind, respectful and altruistic people go on a date, is it toxic? I don’t think so. It’s the people, mostly.

Dating isn't toxic. People are toxic, and people date. Yet not everyone is toxic, and those people also date. The real challenge is finding those nontoxic people (and not being toxic yourself). Then you have to keep them. If there was an easy way to tell that someone wasn't toxic before getting close to them, the toxic people would be left alone.
