Queen Elizabeth II has just died, what do you remember of her reign?

hile it may be somewhat unusual, I am an American who has a deep appreciation for the merits and benefits of democratic constitutional monarchy. Not for my own country, certainly. The USA lacks the socio-political culture that would make such a system work. However, any reading of history will show the benefits of democratic constitutional monarchy in that it places the state outside politics and therefore conduces to cultural moderation and a degree of temperance and appreciation for tradition that republics tend to lack.
In that context, it must be said, Queen Elizabeth II was Exhibit A in the case for monarchy. She exhibited a degree of restraint and an appreciation for tradition that often acted as a ballast for her country in turbulent times.
She was a steadying hand and a unifying force. As Britain went from the stability of the 1950s through the "Swinging 60s" and the era that marked the end of empire and then on to the galloping inflation of the 1970s and subsequent economic contraction, British politics swung back and forth. However, in the midst of all that remained the Queen. A rock in a sea of tumult.
As Walter Bagehot put it, it was the job of the monarch to "advise, guide and warn" the Prime Minister of the day. This she did, but always discreetly and diplomatically.
Yet Queen Elizabeth had a way of making her views known. When the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia visited the Queen at Balmoral, it was something of an issue in the UK that Saudi Arabia prohibits women from driving. So when the Crown Prince arrived, he got in a car to tour Balmoral. The Queen got in the driver's seat and proceeded to race around the estate.
The Crown Prince kept asking the translator - he did not speak English and obviously the Queen did not speak Arabic - to ask the Queen to slow down. Reportedly, the Queen pretended not to understand and kept driving. Point made!!
The Queen also, the dignity of her office notwithstanding, had a sense of humor. She famously staged a tea with Paddington Bear. She also played out a scene with Daniel Craig - the actor who plays James Bond.
Beyond that, the Queen was a friend to the United States. Meeting 14 US Presidents and, perhaps most famously, ordering the playing of the American national anthem at Buckingham Palace after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Suffice to say, there is more to be said, but space does not permit. However, suffice to say, as the old saw has it, "we will not see her like again." Her stoicism, her dedication to duty, her love of country and her deep faith. These things made Queen Elizabeth II the "rock on which modern Britain was built." HM Queen Elizabeth II will be deeply missed.
I believe that with this answer you have said it all.
I also appreciated Macron's tribute on this subject

Not British so... but I think how lucky Prince Philip was when he was 20 and started dating his 13 year old cousin Queen Elizabeth. He must have thought he'd hit the jackpot when he married her because not only was she thin, pretty with a real heavy set of milkers but she was also one of the wealthiest most powerful people on the planet with a fabulous lifestyle that involved super mansions, private aircraft, yachts, military rank, money, any car he wants, meeting celebrities and all he had to do for any of it was have plenty of sex with her and produce a few babies.

They were distant cousins ffs hardly cousins
@Brokenheartedx yeah but aristocrats only marry within a very small group so they are all basically cousins
I think the things that I will always remember is how so many people accused her of killing Diana. I'm sorry but Diana played a massive part in her death as she had chosen not to wear a seatbelt and it was said after her death she could very likely have been alive today if she wore her seatbelt. The one and only person who wore a seatbelt was the bodyguard and hw survived and he is still alive.
I think the other thing is how Meghan tore the family apart. I have no doubt in my mind if it was not for her Harry would not have turned his back on his family and he would have made the effort to see and spend time with his grandmother especially in her last days.
On a more happier note I will remember her beauty she aged very gracefully and her smile and her love for her husband Prince Phillip
I am still shocked she was allowed to marry her husband, with his two brothers that were SS officers.
There is so much to her long life. I think she did have a great one.

1. The Silver Jubilee in 1977.
2. Diana and Charles' wedding in 1981.
3. William's birth in 1982 - that one really affected me - and then Harry's birth in 1984.
4. Diana's death in 1997 and the shitstorm the Queen faced not saying anything; even she bowed to the pressure and made a public announcement. The funeral - my God, that funeral... Watched the world over. It is still haunting.
5. Her COVID inspirational announcement.
I am really going to miss her because I've never known a day without her. By the time you are my age,, almost all from your youth is gone, but she was still there. Her passing is just part of my passing too.
Oh!
6. 1977's The Sex Pistols' debut "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's The Sex Pistols"

which included the song "God Save The Queen" banned by the BBC. The song was released in 1977, the Silver Jubilee year which is another reason why the song was infamous.

I am also reminded of the great title track from The Smith's 3rd album "The Queen Is Dead" released in 1986.

Let’s not call it reign like she was some ancient powerful Queen 🤴
She didn’t even look like a Queen she was an old ass lady that Probably Struggled to Wash her own ass and Queens and kings in my mind are Powerful they don’t fuck around and they command they are not Limited by rules they create the rules and everyone follows them.
If I’m King what I say goes and defying me and my Orders can result In Life becoming much worse
So no she didn’t Reign because she wasn’t Powerful I could of Knocked her down with 1 finger
And I’m not losing any sleep over her death
She was an icon. Arguably the most famous woman in the world. She lived through so many wars and British achievements. Presided over what is arguably the greatest Empire in modern history. Never oppressed the colonies, despite what the Black Nationalists claim, and in the end allowed the ones who wanted to be sovereign be sovereign and the ones that wanted to remain, remain.
People will still be talking about her 1000 years from now, and it will be a long time before anyone else rules as long as her
I remember how close she was with fruity ass Epstein

and when she lost her power...

That's what happens when you want some fruit...

I think of the amount of change she saw in her life which encapsulates how much our world has changed in say 4 to 5 generations.
She lived through WW2 and sadly lived to see Putin invade Ukraine. That must have saddened her.
Now in Australia we will have another boring debate on the monarchy. DOWN WITH THE PRESIDENT is my view. OK we haven't got one yet but I want too start early.
Britain has changed a lot from the beginning of her reign and not always for the best.
Britain went from a major power to a dysfunctional multicultural slum in my opinion but I wouldn’t blame her for that.
She had a long reign, I expected her to surpass the Length of Louie XIV’s reign but I guess that was not to be.
I have a slightly positive view of her but I think it’s too bad she couldn’t stop the negative changes in her country.
She was born in an empire and died in multiculti hellhole with politicians which should play in comedy cabarets instead leading a country. As Queen who had real power I would consider her as full failure but she was just a decoration.
I have seen this question circulating all day so I’ll just show may 2 favorite people one dead😭😭😭 one Alive clips of the queen
She was quite the cheeky and funny person and I'll always remember her cheeky moments that were captured
The British People have my deepest sympathy, I can remember the kindness Queen Elizabeth II and the UK showed to our US Presidents when they went to the UK to visit them.
I’m not sure what to say, her rain didn’t really affect me personally, but I don’t mean any disrespect to the dad.
I remember that she has been attacked by agent ''Johnny English'' a while back.
She was a head of a state, a monarch, mother to multiple p3do’s, and a devoted cousin to her husband. Lol.
It’s very sad she lived a long good life though
That she passed on never knew nothing about her before
I saw the movie of her life and loved it.
My condolences to the england
Her name as a queen of England 😂
When she knighted Austin powers
Nothing I dont live in England
Scandals of her family.
That it lasted my entire life until now
