I feel like it could happen any day now... what would be your reaction?

I feel like it could happen any day now... what would be your reaction?

I'd be pleasantly surprised.
I'm tired of criminals getting off scott free, simply because of who they are. That sort of privilege sets a bad precedent, and it's insane that someone can game the system as much as he does. I'm sick of people in power protecting him.
Either laws apply to everyone, equally, or they apply to noone at all. If you, I, or nearly anyone else did the kind of shit that he did, we'd have been in prison long ago.
And before people get all up my ass about hating Trump, I think this applies to everybody that can reasonably be proven guilty, without bias, no matter who they are.
Amen!

I warn you: Reading legal documents can be a bit dry or confusing, but, trust me, this is the "law porn" equivalent of "You're a scumbag and we are coming after you.".

More, good "law porn":

It couldn’t be a surprise to anyone. The only way he isn’t indicted is if they give him a free pass out of deference for being a former president, which is a distinct possibility. The U. S. justice system has always played favorites with wealthy and influential figures. I think it’s pretty clear he illegally possessed top secret documents and attempted to interfere In Georgia’s election. Do the crime, do the time.
@FilmGuy93
I've followed very little of the whole ordeal with Trump, just occasionally watch a lawyer break it down, it's a pretty set deal on the possession of top secret documents, there's far and away enough evidence to suggest he had those documents and that they were not declassified.
Don't know anything about the Georgia stuff though.
@DevikaButts95 the Georgia stuff is pretty conclusively false; he wasn’t pressuring anyone, and the document possession is something that Trump has actually never denied.
That’s what makes this latest investigation bizarre; Trump was working with the FBI on storing the documents properly before the raid.
@FilmGuy93 you sure seem to take Trumps side often...
Oh I hate the guy as a person, it’s just that I’m a lawyer; I have an ethical responsibility to compare the facts against the law. Independent of how I feel about Trump, the reality is that laws are minimum standards of behavior and if Trump has been meeting those standards, he has fulfilled his duty to society.
A padlocked storage cabinet certainly could be part of proper storage. Trump was consulting with the FBI on how to properly store the documents when the raid occurred. But to your main point; Presidents keep secret and top secret documents all the time. Trump’s behavior in this regard isn’t particularly unusual for presidents
So putting padlock is not proper but having secret government documents on an unsecure server and then deleting evidence when asked to hand it over is ok?
It would go a long way toward restoring my faith in the legal system, and America in general, but I'm still very skeptical anything actually comes out of it. If he actually ends up in prison I'm going to celebrate like I haven't celebrated in a decade.

He won’t get indicted. Even if he does I highly doubt they will convict him of anything.
Merrick Garland and the DOJ knew about all of this since last year. Why did they wait to so long to execute the Mar-A-Logo raid? A bit convenient it happened 91 days before the midterms (FBI can’t take politically sensitive actions 90 days before a major election)
All of this is really a dirty and disgusting strategy concocted by deep state democrats to get Trump back in the limelight to get the negative attention off Biden and brainwash more people to vote Democrat in the midterms.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. The left NEEDS Trump more than the right does. They actually want him to get the Republican nomination in 2024 because he’s the only candidate Biden might beat. They use him as an excuse to push all their radical insanity. TDS is like steroids to the DNC party turn out.
THIS:
" A bit convenient it happened 91 days before the midterms (FBI can’t take politically sensitive actions 90 days before a major election)"
You mean a bit INconvenient.
And, about the FBI... Yes, they can - they can do whatever they want.
What you believe they "can't" do is an internal rule-of-thumb, not a law.
So, why so soon?
BECAUSE FOR 19 MONTHS, he didn't give back what was NOT HIS... and that included information that could "irreparably harm the United States".
Presidential records belong to the people of the United States, not any President.
Trump and his team dicked around and "misinformed" (I won't say outright "lied") about it handing over all documents. The FBI had evidence that this was not the case, sought a warrant, and finally got it in August. And, yesterday, the US Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit agreed overturning the US District Court - these documents need to be in the possession and examined by The United States (the legal name of the Federal Government) ASAP.
int.nyt.com/.../full.pdf
BOTTOM LINE:
If Trump just gave the National Archives what he was supposed to provide them by 20 JAN 2021, there wouldn't have been a Mar-A-Lago raid in August 2022, 19 months later.
@abc3643 and what’s the point of doing that? So he can “sell” this to Saudi spies? He can declassify any document he wants as president by the way. This is a power Hillary Clinton did NOT have the power to. Yet when she had a nonsecure home server with classified emails her office/residence was NEVER raided. Then FBI director James Comey explicitly said there was a high likelihood it was hacked my malevolent actors. She committed a crime but got off scot free. .
My guess is Trump did something very boneheaded yet not “conspiratorial” like the masterbatory fantasy liberals have had about him for so long. Democrats spent over a $100 million in taxpayer money and wasted 2 years with the mueller investigation. The mass media went bananas over it. This Mar-A-Logo raid is more of the same thing.
But it’s enough to drum up all this negative attention on Trump again because democrats desperately need a distraction given when that senile calamity for a president Biden has done to our economy and inflation. I think this was the plan all along.
by the way when the republicans take back the house (and they will) there is going to be a thorough investigation into the Hunter Biden laptop. When that happens we might finally find out who the “big guy” is. That is of course if the FBI actually does their job and act nonpartisan for once. Terrifying how the deep state may be partisan to the left now.
1. What motive does he have? Well, I won't say he was doing espionage. His motive to many who know him is that he is simply a hoarder which would be consistent with his narcissistic personality disorder.
2. Classification status is irrelevant. The laws that the Department of Justice is looking at him for beyond the Presidential Records Act involve documents related to "national security"; they do not have to be classified to be important to national security. ___I___ had unclassified documents related to national security 30 years ago when I worked in a space and defense think tank.
3. Stop with the "deep state" crap; don't drink the Kook-Aid. Trump is in trouble not because he's a Republican (which he isn't really) but because he's Trump and all his life he's gotten away with shit and not had to pay the price. Thus, he feels immune to prosecution and does things to get into legal trouble.
The whole situation just sounds like sketchy nonsense. Apparently many people take documents home after ending their presidency for things like record keeping or book writing. It seems like most of the presidents kinda take more than they're supposed to but it's still unclear how far Trump was taking this leniency.
Also I think I read somewhere that they gave him a lot of warning which seems weird to me because for something both sides should have seen coming the whole procedure seems uncalculated and disorganized.
Almost as if the warnings are normally ignored but someone decided to do something this time.
Or who knows, maybe he has launch codes or maybe he has something on a political opponent and doesn't rleven realise it.
What I find annoying about this situation is that nobody is taking it for what it is and it's anything but clear cut. There are a lot of possible narratives which are almost equally plausible.
If they indict Trump I will be 500% excited to vote for him instead of the 200% I am now.
The left has turned the justice system into a fascist banana republic tool. If you don't support Trump, you are voting for your own demise. Ask the people who have fled the countries who do the exact same things the Democrats are doing and see what they learned. DON'T LEARN THE SAME LESSON THE HARD WAY! IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIBERTY SUPPORT TRUMP!
https://www.youtube.com/embed/jJnShBMG3uYI’m scared to vote for Trump because I’m unsure of his stance on women’s medical issues & healthcare. There is a history of miscarriages in my family, so I’m definitely scared on the abortion issue. Is there a middle ground or moderate candidate I could vote for instead?
Indictments mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! A prosecutor can get a ham sandwich indicted. It will be the day a Jury comes back with GUILTY verdicts and those verdicts hold up to appellate court reviews when you can celebrate. Until then I HIGHLY recommend keeping your powder dry!
i can guarantee you the MAGA's will find 'meaning' in Trump getting indicted in the very very wrong way.
Are you allowing MAGA types to live rent-free in her head? Why do you give a shit at what a MAGA type thinks? I'm not trying to troll you and I am not defending DJT. I'm simply saying the sun rises in the east every morning and the sky is blue! Enjoy the days you have left and screw DJT and MAGA!
lol they are a constant threat in our country dude. and when their leader finally has to face some consequences watch them not help themselves but commit acts of domestic terrorism. i see rioting very possible with these lunatics
Wow, I'm really shocked by most of the comments here. Really, why is there so much hate for this man? What did he do wrong as president? Since he has not been president, America has become a paradise, all problems have disappeared and love, prosperity and happiness reign, right?
you know what he did. stop pretending
Most people are sheep who watch CNN and other mainstream media that use trump for rating boost. He's pretty much the boogeyman that they say you should hate. Seeing that most people don't read much and have lower attention span than in the past, it is easy to see why they just take gospel what they hear on the news.
@Lookingforthetruth? more like lookinginthemirror
How many crimes does he need to commit before you remove your head from your ass
Nothing. Any charges have virtually zero chance of sticking due to several decisions of the SCOTUS in regards to the power of POTUS to declassify. He said he did, and short of his admitting that he didn't there is literally no way to prove that he did not declassify everything he had, as there is no constitutionally required method for him to have done so.
we'll see
You are forgetting all the problems that Trump has that have nothing to do with the Federal Government.
In New York, he's got civil problems right now regarding fraud but that may become escalated to criminality. This has nothing to do with his presidency.
Meanwhile, in Georgia, the evidence is mounting regarding interfering with the election. This is really where he may have a criminal problem.
In both these cases, these are state laws being violated. No pardon in the universe can protect him from those and no "executive privilege" can protect him because he's not president now.
Actually, this:
" actual possession of the documents is ultimately a nonstarter."
is a huge starter.
Learn about the Presidential Records Act.
>>>>> The President of the USA is an EMPLOYEE of the Federal Government. When you leave your job, you don't get to take your former employer's property home with you. Same with the President.
I'd be delighted, but all of this should have been done last year! It's hard to tell if the Democrats are stretching all this out to get as much political mileage as possible, OR they're doing this to MAKE SURE Trump has ABSOLUTELY NO loopholes to crawl through and get away. We need a conviction, and he needs a lot of jail time with a big black bubba as a cellmate.
Why are you using „if“ when it already happened?
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/new-york-ag-sues-trump-fraud-allegations
we are talking about him being possibly arrested
Keep him off the TV. He's an embarrassment and does not believe that newpaper read him differently than he signals and he doesn't seem inclined to give up. On its own, it could be a charming, "who cares what people think of me" but when applied to him; someone who ineptly but reiliently lying on any forum he was on. Almost always for his pwn aggrandixation and his clever put downs to hos enemies du our.
The Biden regime shouldn't be using federal agencies to persecute Conservatives. That's what the nazis did with the gestapo
blah blah blah
blah blah blah hunter plowing his dead brother's daughter is acceptable blah blah
Well that'll be something else honestly. To me I don't know how I'd feel. But to some they'll be so mad with rage
oh yeah you bet your butt they'll be livid lol
At this point I just want him to pay the $250M Letitia James is asking for in the civil case in NY.
But if he is indicted I will be incredibly happy
Be a good start. He's so filthy and corrupt that it'll be sending a very bad message to other career criminals with similar ideas.
A whole lot of people in that clown car need to face consequences.
Just another thing happening to a rich person that will disappear as soon as it hits their ears and they gone back to living life
it hardly ever happens to rich people though and especially a rich person who was a president once.
no i mean it has never happened in our country. no former president has ever had to faces serious legal consequences for their actions.
Nixon was close to but Gerald Ford pardoned him so we could not pursue him
Idc. He's old news.
People from both sides are just desperately trying to keep him relavant so they have something to argue about
disagree with that. he must face consequences.
Just sit back and let the justice system deal with it.
It will be a CIRCUS!
popcorn time
🥳🌈🍻🤠🍿
I'll be happy but skeptical in any rational world that man would have been put away a while ago but are world is very corrupt and stupid so let's see what happens
Would be a dumb move by the government cause lots of unpredictable things can happen if you make 60% of the population question the legitimacy of government. I'd eat some popcorn and see what happens.
There is a higher chance the queen comes back to life
you might eat your words someday :)
We'll see my friend
I can't wait for it to happen... I will celebrate and hopefully it will shut up the jerk for a while.
I'd be fairly surprised. Their witch hunt has been going on for close to 8 years now. This is just another attempt after the TV show "the hearings " season 1 fell through which again came up after "January 6 was planned and executed by Trump singlehandedly " ... etc etc they've been going for 8+ years so...
And if this nuclear fun falls through too (which it will) they'll come up with something else...
It would be a nice surprise but I'm not seeing that happening. Donald Trump is a rich white man and those always get with it.
*get away with it
Indicted means nothing... the idiots 'indicted' him twice in office. All it means is that they formally accused him of something, no real proof is needed for that, as has happened both times.
This whole charade is a distraction, a smokescreen to keep eyes off the real criminals... they themselves.
At this point I don't believe a damn thing I hear about it. This is an obvious witch hunt and setup by Democrats who are totally and irrationally obsessed with Trump.
The indictment doesn't actually mean anything, so I basically wouldn't care.
it will mean a lot to the maga crowd i guarantee it
thats what i mean. it will mean a lot to them in THAT way. they will see it as the smoking gun. my prediction.
Be stoked. He's a dick and it's so obvious he's corrupted
To me he's guilty of character malfunctions.
Anything else is not my direct interest. So I'd smile approvingly, and continue with having my own life.
The man screwed up now he gets to pay the price thinking that he was above the law. They have a set of rules and if you don't follow the rules you pay the price. I don't care about him he doesn't care about me.
Absolute joy exceeded only by my reaction if he is found guilty and sent to prison. Like any other person would be.
Nobody is above the law...
Seeing career Republicans switch sides, spoke volumes.
i’d have a big party! celebrate like we won world war 2 again. I’d rejoice in the down fall of the prince of lies.
They will do everything in their power to not allow him to run so I won't be shocked.
Jury nullification is something racists are known for.
BITE YOUR TONGUE!
NO Jury Nullification! Conviction upheld! DO NOT PASS GO! DO NOT COLLECT $200! GO DIRECTLY TO JAIL FOR LIFE! LOSE THE KEY!
Sorry. Monopoly reference. Do you know it?
Let us hold hands and pray!😂👍
I'll shrug my shoulders because the hideous Democrap party is making yet whether absurd and baseless flask at Trump while taking its own corruption to third world heights.
All men are thief. Trump changed tax law and his company saved like 20million dollars
'all' men huh? thats quite a lot
It would just be one more example of the double standard in our legal system
I just hope that if nothing is found out of place. These swamp creatures do something for the taxpayers!
I will insert my buttplug and celebrate.
no lube?
always lube
Laff an say you get what comes to you for tax fraud
I’ll be happy about it.
I will be happy ofc lol
I have a bag of cheetos ready the day
Probably won't care
lol sorry a lot of things taking my attention.
talking to you nowwwwww...
I'd be very surprised
negatively or positively? or neutral?
Pleasantly surprised!
I will get out the popcorn.
Hip hip horary
Surprised as I prepare for Civil War 2.0.
Lock his orange ass up
Would be shocked if it happened to Trump.
:-D !!!
I’d feel like I finally passed that turd.
I really don’t care either way
OPEN BAR! DRINKS ON HIM... er... you!
With what?
with being an asshole
That’s almost as petty as the Kangaroo from Horton Hears a Who
At least half of our population are A Holes
Don't care.
