How come cultures and religions don't take a woman's rights into consideration when having an arranged marriage?

OK so... When you go to another country even some parents take their daughters to their home country to marry them off to another man who she doesn't even know or could be 20 + her years. From Pakistan, Hindu, Muslims etc... It's a pretty sick and barbaric practice most young girls end up with disfigured faces, abuse, rape and sometimes die. Think about it you just turned 16 and your parents are taking to Islamabad without telling you why only to find out that they are marrying you off to some old man. They take your passport and now you are trapped with parents gone back home. First order of business is these girls forced into marriage are to be raped. Why are we so tolerant on barbaric cultures or religions?
