The question is a bit too vague to answer directly.
The man in question appears to have been suffering mental derangement. He described himself - no kidding - as a "nudist revolutionary" and his social media posts were, to say no more, eccentric. Not exactly a tribute to coherent thinking. It also being notable that his neighbors described him as "odd" and that some had even begun trying to avoid him.
Does that mean that it was not political? No, even the mentally ill can have political views, however distorted. However, beyond one general point, that does not mean that very many useful lessons can be drawn from this episode.
Violence and crime are, as they were in the 1970s, up, as various social theories have been implemented that describes the criminal as the true victim of society. Thus, penalties and the like have been reduced. This leading the early release of criminals and cash free bonds that have result in higher recidivism rates.
The only aspect of this that can really be described as political has been the tendency of politics in recent years to the increased use of inflammatory rhetoric. Accusations of racism, totalitarianism, etc, have heightened the social temperature and throw in the new media and the proliferation of mental illness and it is as if a lit match has been thrown on a gasoline sodden wood pile.
So was the attack in Mr. Pelosi "political"? No, at least not in the sense that those who are making the accusation mean the term. Rather, it is the result of the unfortunate mixture of absurd social theories with an age of new media and inflammatory rhetoric. Suffice to say, as Lee Zeldin can also attest, the nation is apt to see much more of this until the social mood changes.
Obviously. Just like some kid tried to kill Brett Kavanaugh
and another tried to stab Lee Zeldin

@goaded Of course it is. He was prepared with weapons. And it was not just against him.

OK, but calling the police on yourself and waiting on the line for them to arrest you means he wasn't trying very hard, was he! That article isn't saying there were more people wanting to kill justices, just that he was originally planning to kill three of them.
One other important point: he was angry about things that were actually happening (overturning Roe, Uvalde, and something else I can't remember), whereas Pelosi's attacker was angry about things that hadn't happened, he believed lies that were deliberately put out there by reckless right-wing influencers and rarely, if ever, denied by anyone on the right.

Yiu are reaching. This happens all the time to average Americans including myself.
Wasn't that long ago a left wing nut job shot up a baseball field targeting a republican politician, 6 people were injured luckily left wingers are poor shots. Apperently he was demanding the removal of Trump and pence from office. Was democrat rhetoric behind that?
Of course it was political. Just like the guy who showed up out side Brett Kavanaugh house was and tried killing him was political, Do I want Pelosi out of office yes do I think assassination is a good option no I don’t voted her out and let old age kill her not a human.
He was looking for Depape as he could not take the fact he was not Depape and Pelosi was.
This is why I stopped watching the news.
Trump did it ‼️ Call McCarthy lawyers and FBI in.
