What options do you see for the other EU nations after the 200 billion euros subsidy for energy bills in Germany? What do you feel about all this?

There are many scenarios I see here.

  • A subsidy war starts within the EU nations.
  • Import duties are increased, especially on products from Germany.
  • Stop the support for Ukraine thus, resuming the gas supply from Russia, thus saving itself but at a terrible cost.
  • Germany withdrawing the subsidy, thus letting the inflation be.

Now here, people may start dying because of the cost of living. People may come onto roads and topple the government, setting a new one in the hopes of something new on the table.
  • Germany breaking the rules set by the EU, thus subsequently, we as spectators, watching the collapse of the EU as a singular entity.

But as many know, these countries as individual countries, do not hold that much power. Stronger countries may start bullying them by imposing higher import duties on their products, while at the same time, demanding lower import duties for their own products in these smaller nations.

As far as I can tell, the situation is really scary for the people there. It is a Do-or-Die situation for the EU nations.

If Germany moves forward with the subsidy, considering the other nations just sit, we will see a total economic collapse in the other EU nations as businesses in Germany will be more profitable than other nations' businesses.

So much so that the businesses in Germany alone may be able to afford to export their products to other EU nations, thus shutting local businesses in those nations down, effectively.

What do you think about this whole situation? What solutions do you think about all this?

For the second point, replace Import Duties with VAT.

VAT is chargeable on most sales and purchases of goods within the EU. In such cases, VAT is charged and due in the EU country where the goods are consumed by the final consumer. Likewise, VAT is charged on services at the time they are carried out in each EU country.
