What do you think is the best punishment for bullies in schools and at work?

I think they should be expelled from schools and not allowed into any other institutions and same with if they’re fired they shouldn’t be allowed a second chance anywhere else for at least five years. Can’t have this nonsense going on.

Ell oh ell! Well, first we need a clear definition of bullying. In my youth, it was limited to physical abuse and outright violence. I agree with you 100%, if that’s the definition. If accidentally using the wrong pronoun is considered bullying, i disagree with you 100%. We used to say “Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.”. It was this magical mantra that reminded us that the words of others held only as much power as we give them. More people today need to remember and practice that.

Yes I did mean your definition of bullying that involves physical assault. If it is verbal and emotional abuse then I think the victim can be given strength and confidence and the abuser can be punished in other ways but for physical assault serious punishment should be sanctioned.

If they allowed more physical fighting in school with less punishment for it there would actually be less bullying. People couldn't spread lies and ruin friendships so easily online with their smart phones if they knew the next day they were going to get punched in the face for it. It should be more like in my parents' generation where when two people had conflict the PE teacher would have them both put on boxing gloves and fight. They wouldn't get hurt too much since they are still weak kids and the gloves are padded, but it would be enough to end most conflicts.

I definitely would agree where it is proven that someone has been a bully and especially if they’re a repeat offender. I absolutely cannot stand bullies. The only issue is if it is approved how would one prevent innocent people being framed?

Interesting. I would think it’s because the punishment was administered publicly in front of the whole class that did it, rather than the pain of the falaka. I mean obviously I’m just guessing, but I would think getting punished in front of everyone would be more humiliating than to get called to the teacher or principal’s office for punishment to be done there behind closed doors.

they need help, they need guidance, they need better examples... they need dedication from someone who truly cares about them

bullies are still kids, and they are among the most vulnerable ones

and I know this because a lot of the kids I've tutored for years, have been exactly that... the bullies of the class that all teachers gave up with

and I've seen many of them grow up, and get better and tried harder... all they needed was someone who was actually willing to try with them

if you want to hold someone responsible then maybe focus on the parents, and not just the kids

Really requires some psychological digging to understand why they are bullying and address that. In my experience, they are hurt little kids with low self esteem that like to hurt others... because they are themselves hurt. Hurt people hurt people because they are drawing from the wrong energy source inside.

Find root cause, address that.

We already do that with the Juvenile detention center. I've seen many bullies go to prison, and they are still there. There the whole purpose in life is to make everything shitty for everyone.

@DEondeBeaumont Im former volly law enforcement (15 years) Im also a paralegal (21 years) The bullying aspect starts probably mostly at the dinner table - also with the company they keep. To be in the "in crowd" you must bully harass, taunt people. I was bullied in school, in the dept, and where I work. Its a systemic problem where people refuse to see past things. So maybe sometime in a jail cell or a detention center may wake them up a bit.

What if we implement the nordic model education system? In that system, no one is allowed to see their kids, and everyone has to go and see a therapist. Don't you think that would actually fix the problem? There are a lot fewer bullies in those countries. And that is mainly because they stop from happening at the dinner table, to begin with.

I hate bullies and was bullied myself, but jailing them does nothing but make them worse because they will have kids too and abuse them as their parents did to them. You have to stop it at the source.
