Should school bullies face severe consequence if the victim kills themselves or attempts to?

These were middle school bullies and US is already known for judging 12-13 year-olds as adults for serious crimes. The 12 year-old girl ended up hanging herself, survived but with permanent brain damages. She's in a vegetable state and will likely never do her daily functions ever again.

I believe even a teacher participated on the bullying when a student asked ''Where is the roach'' and she pointed to her. Even after she's in the hospital, the bullies headed to the hospital just to post pictures on social medias, harassing her one more time while she's under that state. Is it time they face serious consequences? Harassing someone nonstoppable to the point they contemplate death sounds like a serious crime to me.

Bullying is assault. If you did this to an adult you would get arrested. School administrators have a "kids will be kids" attitude but the cops should get involved. If parents had to take time off from work, hire a lawyer and spend a few days in court they would make sure it never happens again

Exactly. If I were following someone around nonstoppable, take off their jacket or get in their face then it wouldn't be called bullying. I would be charged with assault and harassment.
I think there are limits to the "kids Will be kids". What those kids did caused permanente lifetime damage and so instead of bullying they should be charged with assault and harassment.

It's a hate crime. Fuck that they're minors. Full justice for weak coward followers. I've argued with school administration about the sanctions they gave out. Why not give a lollypop and a pony too?

Yeah it's about time they call it assault and harassment because that's what an adult would be charged with if they did the same thing.

Yeah enough is enough. I think if they got charged with harassment and assault like adults instead of just calling it bullying things would change for the better.

That’s a great idea! Calling it what it is. Bullying does have a connotation of just childishness. Harassment indeed. In ways it’s even worse than when adults typically harass adults because children have way less rights and control of a situation as they HAVE to be at school, and adults around them might not do anything to stop the harassment etc.

For this specific horrible case, I think those bullies might be too far gone and so just child punishments (a lecture or school suspension) isn't going to work.

Thats the thing... child punishments don't seem to go past 18 years old. So at 15 or whatever... it seems both cruel to prosecute as an adult but also unjust to let them slide at 18.

True.. if they're willing to cause life altering changes to not just the victim but the family and still have the nerve to harass her at the hospital, that's when I would have them locked up and throw away the keys. They sound like sadistic, narcissist, even sociopathic at that point. No cure for that.
