Is it strange to you that people idolize their political party?

I've seen some fairly intelligent and respectable people unfortunately descend down this path. It's a strange phenomena taking place today in which people are subscribing their entire identity to a political party. I'm of the belief that it's irrational to think that one party gets every decision right every time. It's as people are substituting their political ideology as their religion. Sometimes I just ask myself how we got here, and I think the roots go deeper than Covid-19. America seems rather combustible right now. Twitter seems to be a wasteland of real life living NPCs who merely repeat headlines broadcasted on Fox or CNN. They mindlessly attack and are not capable of reason. It's as if America has lost the ability to think as individuals. We're surely living polarizing and strange times to say the least.

Yeah well. its the in thing this decade - getting pissy about their political group.

In the past it was people people getting starry eyes about religion, race, family, country etc etc.

People just like to "upgrade" what to divide over, every century or so.

Yes it is and I know exactly what you are saying. The ability to critically think is no longer vogue. Mindless drones following Elites within groups seem the norm. This is exactly what ruling Elites want though🤷🏻‍♂️

Do you believe that eventually Americans will come to their senses, and the people will in time relinquish polarizing political figures or media platforms? There needs to be a social incentive structure in which there are consequences to dividing people intentionally for personal or political gain. For example, calling out racism where it's not just to garner up a voter base by playing on people's emotions. I'd like to live in a world in which people disregard that rhetoric and see it exactly for it is. The consequence would be that this person or politician loses their credibility.

Actually, I think it is impossible to change as we are fallen people and competitive by nature. 🤷🏻‍♂️ There’s always going to be an Obama, Trump, Oprah, and Feminist wanting to dominate men. I don’t have a 📺 because the idiot box is poisonous

I think it's extremely odd.

I see people wearing t-shirts, hats, carrying flags, waving banners, etc; all for a politician. They decorate their homes, and their cars. They practically worship these people.

What is wrong in these people's lives that they make this a large part of their identity?

Not really it what happens when humans get together they form mob mentality where numbers suggests it's right. But I've lived long enough to see where presidents have been elected with virtual mandates and still little changes. So I do think people get worked up over nothing.
