How does someone like Lauren Boebert become a senator?

I'll admit I don't know much about her credentials, but she seems like maybe a high school graduate. She was working in some country bumpkin restaurant as a waitress, and then all of a sudden she becomes a senator known for over the top, brash statements and acting like everything in US politics is an us versus them / high school clique type of fight, and getting all of this media attention.

How does this infiltrate into our government? I thought you had to be somewhat intelligent, and possess a degree of charisma and leadership to be a politician. Yeah, there's Trump, but he was already famous and also very rich so it's no wonder he got in. Boebert was neither. How did she get in? Is Colorado so empty and desolate, they'll elect anyone who turns up on the ballot? I've heard that Ted Cruze had something to do with her getting recognized. Which is odd. She was just a random waitress.

Currently, almost half of everyone living in her area of Colorado has voted for her a second time. Why? Isn't she embarrassing, even for the conservatives? Acting like the most radical of her voter base, while clearly having nothing to offer besides polarizing talking points. She comes across like some kind of plant, or a distraction, and just a place-holder that's meant to win over the most radical people and fill up another seat against a Democrat. Not a person who actually wanted to help lead the country, or would have any clue or interest as to how to even begin.

First of all, she's NOT a Senator, she's a Congresswoman in the House of Representatives. If you're going to trash someone, at least KNOW what position they hold.

Regardless whether you Iike her or not, she represents a fair number of like-minded people in Colorado. I happen to agree with many of her ideas. She may be brash about the way she brings that out, nonetheless, she uaually has good points.

I have extreme reservations about the people in PA who voted in a brain-damaged individual AS their Senator. I have similar concerns about the wingnuts in NYC and re-electing AOC too! She's dumber than a box of rocks and does absolutely NOTHING for her district. So why would you want someone like that to represent you?

You should probably work on your own education before you start asking questions like that. Lauren Boebert is an elected member of the United States House of Representatives for the 3rd congressional district of Colorado. That would make her a "Congresswoman" not a "Senator". People that are elected to your local Water Management District aren't called the President of the United States just like people that are elected to the United States House of Representatives are not United States Senators. Offices have titles. I know this is a challenging one for someone of your education level, but In order to be a Senator, you have to be elected to the Senate.

Congressmen/Congresswomen represent local populations of Americans that in rural areas may stretch over several counties and in more urban areas might be a section of a city. Who ever connects with the local populations best, tends to garner the support of the people. They are of the people, and they work for the people. House Representatives come from all walks of life. For example Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) worked as bartender for someone else's restaurant before she got elected to New York's 14th congressional district. You don't have to hold a Ph. D. to represent your local community.

It's called a figure of speech. So technically I could say some radical outlandish nonsense as well, as just a "don't know what I'm talking about" layperson, and run for House and win? That's kind of scary isn't it?

I just don't think those who lack the character and the skill should be working in government leadership roles, but our last administration demonstrates how it really doesn't matter who you are, or what your character is. You can say things like "when you're rich they let you do anything you want, grab em' by pussy" and STILL be elected the leader of the free world. Seems like a flaw in the system.

Never been a problem for me, but then again... I never listen to any politician talk, or any presidential speeches. I only focus on policies and how that affects us here in rural America.

I don't care what someone says with words, if their policies are good. Often it is lies anyways, Obama lied a lot, Trump lied a lot, better to focus on actual policies and how they are enforcing the laws and what EO's they are writing. What someone says and does, never matches anyways, this goes for all politicians.

I would rather have someone who talks shit and has good policies vs. someone who talks nice, is polite and has shitty policies.

She's not. She represents the 3rd district of Colorado on the House of Representatives. She and her husband owned a restaurant / bar in Colorado. The U. S. founding fathers intended members of congress to be regular people, not professional politicians. She loves freedom and America.
