G@G readers should read that article because it discusses the specific behaviors that would be criminalized. Many of them are offensive.
I am not bothered by the intent of the legislation and what it hopes to achieve, but voted "No" for 2 reasons and I want to be clear as to why.
That said, I'd just as soon recommend that people who want to feel safer from harassment in the UK carry a non-lethal weapon like pepper spray or a taser. Those would give the immediate justice warranted in those situations. I don't know about weapons laws in the UK though.
But, there is a basic fact of life: Do not fuck with people if they can make you regret it.
If the potential victims of sexual harassment were armed in some way, potential harassers would think twice. That's more effective than any legislation.
Like I said the other day on @purplepoppy's post, England is completely fucked and have gone full V for Vendetta. (Or Watch Dogs: Legion, if you prefer more modern.) I can't even hold back from cursing at this stupidity. And yes, I read the article and know it's mainly due to Muslim migrant rapists and sexual assaulters, but they never arrest them anyway, cause "dats racist!" or some shit.

If it is true sexual harassment, not freedom of speech. Cat calling is annoying but falls under freedom of speech to me.
That should not be considered a crime, however the additional parts of the law, where he blocks someone so they can't move, or follows them (stalks) I support them going to jail for that, as that is not freedom of speech, that crosses into fear where for all anyone knows, they are trying to find where you live or wait for a opportunity to rape her when no one is around.
Staring should also not be a crime, as I don't consider that sexual harassment, seems they could find a more reasonable compromise on this by still allowing freedom to look any direction and speech but criminalizing the other parts, such as blocking someone so she can't leave or stalking her.

Think about it, you cannot even get a 2 year conviction for rape. You even have to wait around a year before the matter comes before a court!

Okay I voted yes, because there is line at some point that skirt stalking laws... so, it all depends on the actual law. In the state of California where I live, certain types of harassment are considered misdemeanor and in extreme cases felonies. But it's like $2,000 dollar fine or 6 months in jail for a misdemeanor...
But the intent of this law would be to further define what the difference is between what we consider sexual harassment, actually crosses the line to becoming sexual misconduct, but does not reach the bar of sexual assault.
So, depending on the actual verbiage of the law, I am in favor of the concept... but the I have to see the actual law first. But I voted yes. And of course, this law would apply evenly to women as much as men.
It's sad that so many guys hear "sexual harassment will be illegal" and reply "men just can't approach women anymore!" Do you really think the only way a man can "approach" a woman is by yelling sexual comments at her on the street? Following her around and staring her down like a lion warming up to chase gazelles? Forcing her to interact with you because if you give her a chance to walk away, she will run? That is not normal. I hope most people realize those are not normal ways to approach women. Yes, sexual harrassment should be illegal. Nobody is going to get the maximum sentence for it if they even get convicted, but at least it should be a deterrent for normal guys who were just never taught how to interact with other humans.

The staring one is abit tricky, because I believe it's fucking weird, uncomfortable and can make me feel unsafe is a man is constantly staring at me. There are so many rapes, sex traffics and what not to not feel like that, however, I don't think they should do jail time for that, maybe a slap on the wrist and to learn how to control their eyes would be good.
No. Unless the harassment was literally something along the lines of groping a stranger. If they groped someone on a date without their permission, I still wouldn't find that enough reason for jail. Just enough reason to end the date. Jail ruins peoples lives & takes up a lot of tax payer money. I'd rather have my tax payer money go towards housing homeless or building quality parks & schools for kids in rough areas. It seems silly to ruin someone's life and use up tax payer money just because someone stared at you, whistled, or said inappropriate or degrading things.

That's too strict. I would not consider those things sexual harassment. I'm glad these people are out of the World Cup. They are becoming more dystopian everyday.
I've always liked that in Europe you could get away with stuff like that, but the UK has been losing its mind. The first two, I wouldn't consider harassment unless it's persistent. But I can't stare, really? They need to look up the meaning of the word "harassment".

Throwing more men in prison for innocuous things (reverse all the cannabis possession charges, for ex.) is not going to solve anything. I don't know how you make laws without jail time being the penalty, but that's for lawmakers to figure out.
I think the U. K. is getting ridiculous. They aren't simply progressive, they're now leading the way to insanity.
When I worked in security in my early 20s. Sexual harassment by women daily was part of the job. Infact, ask your local security/bouncer and he'll tell you how common it is for men in certain professions to be sexually harassed.
Women are just as bad as men, if not worse.

I always got harassed in the way described since I was a little girl, it would be nice to see something actually being done about this. Now as an adult, I kind of just keep it pushing, but it made me super uncomfortable as a kid growing up. I feel like if they were given the opportunity to change and take some sort of classes, then that would hopefully be enough. (The ones who haven't been charged for actual crimes like rape, molestation, etc..)
Sounds like they are trying to reduce birth rates. If men and women never meet, then they never mate. No husband... No kids... It's an attack on the family. Brainwashing of women, to make them lonely, isolated, and vulnerable. When they come for you, no one will be there to get your back...
