Why is American society and government so merciless?

In that richest greedy corporate-like country, there are too many homeless people. Don't come with "but they are mentally ill, lazy, drug addicts etc." excuses.

Even in too many poor 3rd world countries, it is not like that. Full of Town homeless and poor people in America shows that there is definitely something wrong with that country.

People sometimes just get a job thou. Like my husband has. He works in an office and that gives us a house in the mountains in Colorado with a couple of cars and stuff like that.

In many countries people live in small apartments and both work all week but still have to ride a bicycle to work in the rain.

Me personally, I'd be in trouble, because I have no idea how to ride a bike

It isn't society, as there are many voluntary charities and quite a bit of government financing. The problem in my opinion is politicians who speak big about the problem, but then direct the taxpayer funding to their friends and allies who spend absurd amounts to little effect. Like Los Angeles spending $600K per unit for homeless housing. In comparison, the excellent condition ten-year-old five unit rental building I purchased in a nice part of Costa Mesa cost around $300K per unit, half as much, and each unit is larger and nicer than the LA homeless units.

As someone who has been to multiple third world countries, and and also has close friends from many various third world countries and has heard all of their horror stories, that is a load of bullshit. Respectfully. America is easily one of the best places if not the best place to be homeless.
