I once saw another user write people who repeatedly post their pictures in the how do I look section have low self esteem. Do you agree with this?

I have low self esteem about the way I look. I never have and I still don’t want to post my picture in the how do I look section because some people can be mean online and write stuff they lack the courage to say offline or lack the courage to say face to face to a person. Since I have low self esteem about the way I look I imagine I probably couldn’t handle it well if another person insulted the way I look. My low self esteem makes me extra sensitive to criticism and insults.

Actually today in the how do I look section I saw this post more than one user was saying this male looks like a female. They are making transgender jokes to this person.

Today in the how do I look question I saw more than one GAG user saying this male looks like a female girl. It seems to me like they were trying to make this guy feel about about his own appearance by saying he looks female.

There's all kinds of people in that section. Some want suggestions how to improve their appearances, some are good looking and they want to show off, others are just fishing for a compliment to feel better. Mostly it's people who want to be seen and acknowledged.

If you fear this website, there are a lot of Rate me type pages on Reddit. There's even ones that are just for compliments, so they only say what they like about your appearance. Then there's other ones like "Roast me" where people want to be insulted, lol.

Your question asked whether or not I think people in the how do I look section have low self-esteem?
Obviously a lot of them must have a certain amount of self-confidence (whether justified or delusional) to even post themselves online to be judged. If you have such low self-esteem that you won't even post a picture, then maybe it's the people who don't post themselves out of fear who have the lowest self-esteem.

I believe it takes courage to post a picture on a website like Reddit and Girlsaskguys where people have the ability to anonymously insult you.

That's what I think too.
A trick I've used when I posted pictures of myself here before is I insulted myself before they even could, lol.
I asked something like "Does this older bastard look better with or without glasses?"
Then people are usually nice. If you're one of those people who asks "Am I really beautiful or just pretty" it's likely that they are seen as conceited and people will try to take them down a peg.
Either way Gag is full of grumpy, jealous people so it's risky to post a picture here.

I imagine a person who is very happy and satisfied about their own appearance wouldn’t go around trying to make other people feel bad about their own appearance.

I usually tell people what I like about them or else I don't even answer it. There's no point in going around insulting people unless you're an angry person.

I think most people know what their flaws are already and don't need to be told that their forehead is big, or they're losing their hair, or told that they're a 4/10 according to some anonymous Oscar the Grouch. Some people kiss up too much, and others try to hurt them.

To be honest I wouldn't be sad if they shut down the whole website.
This place is pretty contentious and full of misinformation. It's set up perfectly for men and women to hide behind avatars and fight with each other, delete each other and hurt each other, lol.
It's a perfect platform for racists, sexists, misogynists, misandrists, child predators, scammers, catfish, political and other types of extremists and mean people to gather and spread lies basically.

I couldn't agree with you Anon.. There are so many rude and mean people all over the site that get their kicks out of making others feel bad about themselves.. Especially the howdoilook section can be really toxic and harmful for young people, who are insecure with their looks or have some type of bdd... People on reddit are generally nicer (except for some incel subs), helpful and more willing to give you constructive criticism on how to improve your looks...
Also, yeah it depends on how you phrase your question. If you say "am I very hot", people are more likely to perceive you as being conceited, so they will roast you. If you say "I know I'm unattractive, could you tell how could I improve your looks", they're much nicer..

Generally this is true. I would say more accurately they have an unhealthy view of themselves. Because there are a lot of women that do this that aren't really lacking in self esteem. They just have an unhealthy view of themselves, a warped sense of "self". They consider thier physical value to be thier ONLY value. Which is why they constantly want thier ego stroked.

Some of the comments on howdoilook are very mean. I saw a user today calling a girl a "landwhale" and a girl saying that a guy has the eyes of the serial killer..

I agree with the Blue Anon, that people on reddit are much nicer (on amiugly and other subs). They're more likely to give you constructive criticism also, on what to improve about your looks
