So apparently there is a theater in Canada who chose to ban whites and Asians from its theater. Granted its just 9 days, But still, that is a civil rights violation. At least here in the states it would be. But hey, its only racist if a white person does it right?

Canada's top taxpayer-funded theatre has sparked fury by holding a 'blacks only' performance - and banned white and Asian people.

The National Arts Centre in Ottawa will hold the event in the middle of Black History Month on February 17, with a performance of 'Is God Is' at the Babs Asper Theatre.

The 897-seat venue will be open exclusively to an 'all-Black identifying audience' with people of other races being told to attend the play on any of the other eight shows from February 9 to 18.

Since 2020, when the Canadian government demonstrated that its people don't have RIGHTS, just... suggestions.

The hell of it is that any attempts to codify rights into a foundational document would probably be decried as "culturally appropriating from the US".

In the states, where I’m at and from, it’s happened. All businesses benefit from taxes and therefore have no right to refuse service based off skin color alone. There is an argument to be made for the right to refuse service that I think needs to be considered, after all you don’t stop a racist from being a racist by telling them their wrong.


Furthermore Idc. That’s Canada. Not my fucking problem. I don’t agree with funding Ukraine and people are actually dying there. Leave people to their own problems and focus on ours. We’re too far behind to help anyone. You can’t help when your a failure yourself. We shouldn’t have starving children and homeless veterans and still be feeding and housing other countries. I’m callous enough I can say that for the better of our country I’m okay with seeing others suffer until we’re in the position to help again.

Since when did Canadians have any rights? You let the largest single minority run your goverment uncontested and unchecked.

What does a Constitution when a minority party can effectively do whatever it wants regardless? Frankly i dont understand how your system of goverment could ever work without a largely homogeneous culture.

It would fly in the USA, but then get knocked down by the opposing faction either in the same goverment (different branch) or in a different goverment (state) to which you could move.

The trouble with parliamentary systems is the central parliament run by the largest minority party is effectively supreme over the goverment.

They have tried to copy our concepts like the "constitution" and "rights" but even our own constitution is only as useful as you have opposing people willing and able to enforce it.

Which is why even our own constitution has broken down over the last 200 years as they have broken down the practical ability of other governments and factions to resist.

In Canada her provinces have taken on a larger role than original intended to try and fill this void. Their implicit power ultimatum comes form their ability to threaten withdraw. Thus limiting how far the central goverment minority faction can go to impose its will.

But having ceded to that goverment the control of law enforcement (mounties), this really doesn't protect the people for anything that would not justify such an extreme move.
