Do you think China will send weapons to Russia and if so, how do you think the "west" will respond?

There are reports circulating that China is planning on selling arms to Russia and the US has warned China that there will be consequences if they do that. Many have wondered what those consequences might be with speculation that it could be sanctions or supplying Taiwan with weapons.

But I do think Ukraine itself could issue its own warning to China: any piece of Chinese equipment that we capture we're going to auction off to any country that would like to get their hands on Chinese military tech and asses their capabilities (USA, UK, India, Australia, Vietnam, Taiwan or Japan). And given that there's uncertainty as to whether Ukraine got more equipment via aid from the US or capturing from the Russians, that's not some unlikely scenario either.

Very possible, at least on some scale. Worth noting however is that China does not want Russia to win either. They simply want to exploit Russia to gain more personal benefits and preferably even weakening Russia further.

Things they might send? Artillery shells. They are something you store for a long time and at large quantities as well as have a "use by date". China could benefit from clearing out their old stocks, especially since this war in particular has shown that they might be of low quality and unreliable anyway so why not get a premium price for it and ditch them all?

Drones. China wants to be a major producer in electronics and develop their drones. This would be the perfect excuse to pump in some fresh capital as well as test their designs in the field.

Maybe some old soviet junk laying around. In other words, not really things China would mind if anyone else got their hands on. Also pretty sure countries like USA would understand that China is not doing this for the benefit of Russia so their denunciation of China would be minimal.

I am pretty sure China would like Russia to survive as a client state for them. I don't think China genuinely thinks Ukraine/Nato will end up driving tanks to the red square even if they could do so uncontested.

So whats in it for China other than annoying the US, which they are willing to do with balloons so maybe that is enough. The US chip ban has them seething in Beijing.

I think China will remain focussed on Taiwan and not do anything that isn't compatiable with that.

Yes, but who said they would be Chinese weapons? Jo Jo left 85 billion dollars worth of weapons for China, in Afghanistan. China might send Russia some of our Black Hawks.

It is difficult to predict the exact response of the "west" to any potential arms transfers from China to Russia. However, it is likely that the US and its allies would be opposed to any significant increase in arms transfers, given the current tensions between Russia and the West. Additionally, the US could use a range of diplomatic, economic and military tools to dissuade China from sending weapons to Russia.

Hard to say. China is going to back the winner with an eye on the rebuild of Ukraine and irs contracts.

China could return a lot of ex Russian equipment to Russia or supply ammunition. Hard to prove China did it

No china is very susceptible to sanction due to the fact that the Chinese economy is heavily dependent on Nato countries both imports and exports.

Though I have no doubts Chinese government owned companies will continue to fun russia as they have been since the beginning.

The US should be telling Ukraine’s neighboring countries to dig deep and support their neighbors. Since people figure that Russia will not stop at Ukraine!

Definitely possible in the current climate but what interests does China have in assisting Russia other than going to war? And if that happens we will respond and it will be an all out war
