This is actually one thing Republicans and Democrats basically agree upon. 16% of the public has high confidence in newspapers. 11% has high confidence in television news.
Personally, I think the media tends to underrate people's intelligence. I am not saying people are super-smart, but I think the media assumes everyone is as dumb as dirt, so they think they can trick us. That irritates us.

Because the media is incredibly biased for one side or the other. The problem is people continue to be sucked in by it.
