Why do you think people's confidence in media is so incredibly low?

This is actually one thing Republicans and Democrats basically agree upon. 16% of the public has high confidence in newspapers. 11% has high confidence in television news.

Personally, I think the media tends to underrate people's intelligence. I am not saying people are super-smart, but I think the media assumes everyone is as dumb as dirt, so they think they can trick us. That irritates us.
