We should certainly pull out.
If the other nations aren’t fulfilling their obligations and the US is financially unstable then it’s only fair that we get to pull out. We don’t benefit nearly as much from nato as the Europeans do.
We should certainly establish better connections with certain nations that would be willing to cooperate, but we shouldn’t be chained to dead weight when we were already drowning.
If anything I think we should side with Russia and China. It’s about time we brought in new “America first” policies.
I vote we establish an alliance with England, Russia, China, Germany, Japan, Canada, Australia and Brazil then we set up trade agreements with the different powers in order to increase the strength of all nations involved in exchange for a non aggression pact and an agreement of what territories each nation can have “authority” over. Basically each nation would be assigned an area they are permitted to occupy or take over. They can’t go beyond that point in order to prevent a territory dispute between allies.
I know a lot of people may hate the idea of siding with Russia and China but both nations have a drive to become powerful so unlike the EU they won’t be perpetual financial burden. Also if we play our cards right we can convince china to wav a portion of our debt in exchange for certain services. Also having the other big nuclear power on our side basically just means the rest of the world is completely defenseless and thus leads to greater potential for the alliance.

The alliance of NATO is important, but not important enough to allow the massive corruption and parasitic relationship to continue. All of that crap needs to stop, any country that isn't meeting or exceeding their obligations as a member should be given an ultimatum and eventually ejection if they don't fix it, and any new member must be able to meet those demands on day one, without exception. The US politicians who are using NATO and affiliate partnerships to launder money need to be imprisoned as well.
None of that is actually going to happen, of course.
No. Geopolitically that would be horrendous for the US. Our importance to the alliance grants the US privileged status in a lot of ways. It allows us to set the security agenda internationally for our benefit. It opens doors to beneficial trade partnerships. It keeps allies purchasing defense technology from us. It grants us access to military bases around the world and to intelligence from member nations. Our counterterrorism efforts would be greatly hampered without NATO. Our intelligence gathering would be diminished. With modern military capabilities, we’re no longer effectively protected by the oceans on either side of us. It only makes strategic sense to maintain a military presence of our own, as well that of allies closer to our enemies borders. Without NATO, the US is weaker economically, militarily and geopolitically. Those who would accept these diminishments because Donald Trump told them to are fools.

As a person from an Eastern European NATO country, it shouldn't come as a surprise that I'd prefer NATO to continue on, even if the question was not adressed to me.
No NATO is still a useful organization. What needs to happen is that all members must pay their fair share. It is a certain percentage of the GDP. President Trump insisted tat all NATO countries had to pay what they owed. The deadbeat countries all hated Trump for it. Now the US has paid 160 billion towards Ukraine and all the rest of the other NATO countries put together paid only a fraction of that. Biden is okay with that because he and his son already got a big payday. The rest of us pick up the tab;
The US is falling apart internally while the elites are using NATO and the EU to essentially bankrupt Europe. If I was European I would want out. I am American and I want out. It doesn’t matter what anyone wants because dedollarizarion is progressing rapidly and this will undermine the USG’s ability to export its inflation and field multiple aircraft carrier groups sooner than most realize. Both Western Europe and the US have a nuclear deterrent and so do not need total global hegemony in order to be secure.
I think ALL members should honor their financial commitments or there won't be a NATO. Nothing in life is free, but Europeans seem think that American military aid is for some reason. I'm all for a military alliance with countries that have a shared history and mutual interests, but I don't like being taken advantage of. Pay up or we're out!
Yes! It was created as a defense against Soviet expansionism. The USSR no longer exists. But now NATO is a tool of American belligerence and expansionism, as seen in Eastern Europe.
Plus, it's a way to prop up the U. S. arms industry and sales of advanced weaponry to other countries. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has benefits to the US and all of its members. Though most members are European, nations and face a potential threat from Russia, the US would benefit if any country attacked it, say Russia or China.
No offense @julie4 but Europe could sink into the sea for all I care.
What does Europe EVER do for America? You criticize our citizens, mock and belittle our leaders, and look down your noses at us and judge us? What the hell do you even provide to us besides contempt?
Just look at all the Europeans who come here and regularly shit on Americans. Oddly the mods never bat an eye, but say Haiti is a shithole cholera infested failed state and everyone is up in arms. 🙄
NATO must be dissolved, there's no purpose for it other than being the George Soros' armed wing, it acts like a global mafia and costs us taxpayers too much.
Russia's recent escalations have proven that NATO doesn't do nearly enough. And the European members should fulfil their obligations and spend the necessary money for defence agreed upon by the Alliance.
The US should pull out of NATO unless ALL other members spend the amount they promised to in 2015 on defense.
NATO Matters. As a political and military alliance, what we do together at NATO directly contributes to the security, the prosperity, and liberty of the people of the United States and every All
NATO is not a real alliance. It is a formation that America and Israel are trying to realize their plans.
I don’t support NATO but I would want to continue a defense alliance between America and Europe.
No, but it would be nice if the other members pay their fair share.
Yes, America needs to stop being the ATM of the world.
No - but they need to stop using it as a political weapon and a threat.
I would love for the U. S. to exit NATO, than I would sit back and watch while eating popcorn.
The only thing that I seen that the UN does for somebody is nothing.
NATO hot a good thing going on where America screw up we used a lot of ammo to Ukraine while Russia and China build up their ammo and tamks
