I am not strictly speaking about organized crime or mass shooter here. But more about day to day violent criminals who engage in domestic incidents (grievous assault, armed robbery, homicide, violent rape, etc?).
We often hear about political affiliations of mass shooters. They get media attention and their motives are usually analyzed. But vast the majority of violent crimes are one off domestic incidents. Not to say a single/double homicide is no big deal. It’s horrible but that rarely makes national news. If it did then the news would be reporting about murders being committed literally every 15 minutes or less.
Just curious if there has ever been research done on this. Maybe some of these people never vote or even cared about politics to begin with. But it would be really interesting if there was data about what their political affiliations were prior to engaging in violent crime.

Why would you even need a study when you can just use common sense? Imagine you’re a criminal, which side would you support? The side that “backs the blue” and supports harsher punishment for criminals? Or the side that wants to defund the police?
You’re expecting there to be non-biased research that explores the political affiliations of the offenders?
C’mon.
Yeah I doubt it exists unfortunately.
Tbh political biases have gotten so steeped into institutions that you can’t trust market researchers nowadays. Most of them have already made their minds of up on the outcome of the data collection prior to starting. The surveys will be written with biased questions and/or questions the responder doesn’t fully understand (which can lead to inaccurate results).
I confess I already have a preconceived notion of what kind of political beliefs most violent criminals most likely have. But if it were possible to have accurate data and it proved me wrong I would accept it.
I especially enjoy reading the propaganda—I mean research LOL—that talks about “Liberal” brains and the “Conservative” brain.
And how the former is OBVIOUSLY better. 🙄
Because “science” says so!
I recall getting an automated phone call survey a year ago about education systems in my state. If decided to stay on the line and take the survey.
They survey started out objective but the questions asked toward the end of the survey were disgustingly bias. I saw through the bs though and responded in a way I know disappointed the so called “impartial” market researcher.
No shit on your last comment.
These people really think the other side are all just a bunch of knuckle dragging boneheads. I love pissing them off and proving them wrong.
