Agree or Disagree: Society doesn't give two shits about men's mental health and suicide and women really need to stop pretending to care?

I've learn to accept that society doesn't give 2 fucks about men in general. They only give a shit about men when men can either make them money or provide them something they need, and even then, men get absolutely no appreciation or respect for doing things for people.

I have yet to find a woman who very sincerely cares about men's mental health problems and doesn't use men's deep personal secrets against them as weapons.

Yes on the first point, no on the second; we need society to become MORE concerned with mental health, not to continue to not care, and simply be more honest about it. More broadly, we need the intellectual integrity to confront the consequences of our evolutionary realities and honestly judge whether we're willing to accept the results of living by them- OR the results of defying them.

Denying the doctrine of male disposability means abandoning battle slavery, ending functional "bachelor taxes", abolishing infant genital mutilation regardless of gender, equalizing of retirement ages (which some countries already do), and changing THOUSANDS of discriminatory laws, nearly all of which (despite popular opinion) advantage women. That's the price of egalitarianism.

The alternative is admitting that men and women aren't equal, and extending privilege further in the opposite direction- granting men enough of a social, legal, and/or economic edge that they're willing to stay and operate in a society that openly demands more of them. That's the price of biological essentialism.

I mentioned the 2nd because I've been told very enraging stories by men of how their girlfriends only pretended to be kind and nurturing to them until these men opened up about themselves and these same "kind and nurturing" women quickly sank knives in their backs and left them.

I've heard similar stories; enough to erase any doubt that it does happen, but it seems to me that encouraging women to be more understanding and empathetic towards men is a better option than wholesale bigotry, no? Women are people; they can think, too, even if society doesn't tell them to.

Honestly, I'm just sick and tired of giving women the benefit of the doubt because it's clear of how they all truly feel about all men.

But that's just it- it ISN'T. You're taking society's toleration of the horrible actions a number of bad people and extrapolating it to an entire gender.

Personally I take my partners mental well being very seriously. I strive to have a equal partnership and be a comfortable/safe place for him. My boyfriend recently told me that being with me feels like home. When he has a bad day I try to be there for him the best I can. I share some of the wisdom I get in therapy with him and even hunted down a list of therapists in his area (we live 1.5hrs away from each other) so he could go. Whatever he needs and I can provide, I'll give him.

Yes, and people in general need to tell people with depression the truth, which is that there's no treatment that will help
