I agree. A nation is defined by its sovereignty and its laws. An open border allowing anyone to come without following the process is antithetical to that. Hopefully this animal is caught in this country so he can face Texas justice.

It's not so much that they see it as no big deal. But the country has been turning a blind eye to it since the Reagan administration. When you've ignored something for years. You can't decide to get serious about the problem (even if you have the will to do so as most politicians don't) and think the populace is going to support you. Business is addicted to the cheap labor at this point.

No. In order for someone to be an illegal alien there would have to be laws in place regarding immigration.

There were no immigration laws in America back hundreds of years ago so no one was illegal, but there are laws now.

All sovereign countries have immigration laws.

That addresses the detail of the matter but not the spirit of it. If someone came and took your home by force and killed your family, you would not call a subsequent occupation of it by others 'legal". The occupation of North America by Europeans was hardly "legal" by any reasonable definition of the term.

One thing that does not work so well is harboring extreme levels of resentment against the descendants of the occupiers, much less to try to instill a guilt complex in them.
