Honestly I feel like the world would currently benefit if social media shut down for a while. I feel like social media has made people take a negative nose dive at this point.

Oh you mean compared to the past with causal racism, sexism and lack of acceptance to others choices yeah no were getting better as the years go on people just look at the past with rose colored glasses through movies and think things were better but no they were shit for anyone who wasn't the main character. Things are shit now but it's not our culture it's our economic situation

those things still exist today with different targets but get defended as a means to "correct the past"

most people are still side characters and that's never going to change whether the economy is good or not. main characters are only for those at the top and they get remembered in history

down in terms of percentage or population? because keep in the mind the population is bigger than in the past

for example hypothetically let's say 20 years ago the world population was 1 billion people and only 500 million racists. that's 50%

now let's say today the world population is 10 billion but now 2 billion racists. that's 20%

even though 20% is less than 50%. 2 billion is greater than 500 million

and social justice is being used as a mask to hide further discrimination even if its not open discrimination. our laws are written with some form of discrimination involved

In terms of percentage and our younger population doesn't have those terrible beliefs in such high numbers as the past. This is not to say the numbers at 0 just look how bad the far right hates trans people rn but it is getting lower as time moves on and people get better educated
