These riots are absurd. I saw the video of the cop shoot that kid. That kid hit him with the fender of that vehicle and could have easily crushed that cop between the car and concrete wall behind him.
It was justifiable homicide.
If these people feel so mistreated in France they should go back to the flea bitten hell holes they came from.
Imagine that…. immigrate to a country which is better than where you left…. then complain about your treatment to the point of violence.
Yet no one seems to be discussing how this kid was driving without a license…. in the bus lane, and was directed to pull over twice…. BEFORE he hit that cop with the fender of that car.
I guess they must not have laws in Morocco, Algeria, and wherever these people come from as it would appear they did not know they are subject to the laws.
God protect the French police, may the rebellion be quelled.
I would not visit France until this matter is solved.
Nah, let them eat cake
In all seriousness, this wouldn't be an issue for me too much, since I'm guessing a majority of the riots are happening in Paris, so I would just not stay there long. The Paris Region only takes up a small portion of France and there's a ton left to see in the country. Lyon, Provence, and specifically Loire Valley would be pretty cool to see.
My only problem is that I don't understand the language enough. Also, I know certain parts of France are very anti-american (I'm assuming it's primarily in areas like Paris).
I hadn't thought about it bc I don't have any plans to go to France or Europe any time soon, but yes, I would avoid going to Paris right now. Using the airport should be fine if you have to change planes on the way somewhere else but I wouldn't want to be roaming around in Paris sight seeing at the moment. It might be fine but my thought would be "why take a chance" JMO!
We are staying in Avignon around first weekend of August. Planning to travel to Paris to fly back to the US by mid August. So hopefully things will settle by then…otherwise we will see other options.
Seems like things settled down now. 😊

No, I went there yesterday for shopping and all was normal. Seen from Switzerland, France is a shopping paradise, not only because it is cheaper, but also because of the choice.
They have a supermarket chain called "Le Grand Frais" where they only have fruits, vegetables, meat and fish from all over the world with huge variety. The passion fruits from Zimbabwe are divine, for example. Swordfish is always available there at moderate price, while in Switzerland this is quite special.
However, I would avoid certain areas of Paris and I never felt compelled to visit Marseille. The part I know and like is called Haute-Savoie.
Yes the shopping is amazing in France.
@Julie4 - Oui, bien sûr. Je vie en Suisse romand et ici on parle français.
Nope. Not afraid. Just won't go. I would dearly love French culture, cuisine, architecture, history, and every other amazing thing French. But I don't want french drama or French violence any more than I want it here in the united states.
So, I'll stay here. Not because I'm afraid but because I'm not traveling to France just to endure violence and just as likely to get caught in a transportation workers' strike.
France has French people in it... that's why I never wanted to go there. The language sounds gay, the people look gay, the art, food, buildings... it all looks gay to me. So they're getting pissed off at their elite again... what's new? They're just sitting there waiting for Germany to take them over again.

France has never really been the master of violence. I've been in riots in Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan, South Korea... I wanted to say there was another... I dunno. I'm just saying... you want to go to a hard party, hang out with the midgets and the foreign senior ncos, you want to go to a hard riot, you don't go to France.
Have been to Paris one time and hated to leave. Just saw the riots on TV this AM, but have not heard the latest bullshit for the burning and destruction. Have never understood anyone, anywhere burning and destroying what they call their home.
Do you know or have you heard what the latest is on this current riot/burning/pillaging?
I will go to France if someone asks me to go with them and if they really really want to. It's not an absolute dealbreaker. But that country is in a downward spiral since the 70's and only speeding up recently.
Yes I would be afraid but it has been that way at the very least since 2015. Riots sure don't help but I associate France with violence, crime, disorder and social conflict for a while now and I doubt it's going to change once the riots calm down.
No not for the stupid riot and the stupid reason behind it. I won't go because Westren Europe is overrrated. Shytty weather and shytty people. Very expensive and horrible food. Save your money and travel to a country where u will have a much better time than just people who won't help you bcs u r a tourist who speaks English and they can't. Haughty narcissists
They that sow the wind shall reap the whirlwind
France brought this on themselves, now enjoy it. No need to take immigrants from Africa and middle east. - Sure call me a racist now - i really dont care, you are the one who have riots on the streets - lol :)
Not afraid, but what can I say? France fucked up. They have a constant problem with disliking Africans - whether they're northern or black - and Muslims.
France already looked like a Third World Country when I been there, don't want to visit again.
France brought this upon themselves
allowed illegal immigrants into the country because they didn't want to be seen as racist and are now paying the price for it
Its not that they dont want to seem as racist it more for a political agenda from the democrats
I'll say one thing about the French, they don't piss about when it comes to riots, world leaders.
Think I'll wait until it settles down.
God, the British are so uptight. Just go, let down your hair, and participate in some civil unrest already. You afraid you might enjoy it?
We did riot a few weeks ago. Hundreds took to the streets and burnt one car.
I can hear them now:
"You think it'd be impolite if I burned this car?"
"What? Bloody hell, it's a riot."
"Right-o. No riot without a burnt car, yeah?"
Not at all. There might be areas that might be best not gone to. When I was in France I had some good times in the suburban areas of Paris.
How extensive are the riots? The media will give a very false view.
Cannot be any worse that the US.

No, not at all. I would still go there.
France has always been trash. Never wanted to go there anyway. And why are people acting like this rioting is new?
France for many years now has had ongoing riots.
As someone living there right now it's overblown on TV. For the most part life is pretty normal (except when they close public transportation early)
I haven't thought about it.
I'd have to research it. I would guess the riots are in specific areas... maybe some areas of certain cities.
I would bet those areas can be avoided.
no i was already not willing to go to france before that. i've never been there but i have several friends who have the experience of french people being douchebags towards tourists and foreigners.
no their small food portions scare me more than their riots
so i have to go to a country restaurant in france to get a normal portion of food, scary 😣
i think im good with all my American portions, everywhere i go its not small 😆
No, just go to a restaurant that doesn't have a star lol. When you go to a fancy restaurant you get small portions.
Ah, American excess invites itself onto your plate 😂 in France, eating isn't just eating, it's a way of life, we learn to appreciate the food we eat, we take our time in these moments. we have a starter, a main course, a dessert and often a coffee to finish.
Civilize your way of eating American friend ( just kidding ) 😂
well im guessing thats why its the place of love, eating is stretched to a full day, interesting 🤔
here we just walk in, eat, walk out, france sounds very fancy lol
i dont recall anywhere that kicks you out but as long as the foods have a good side then its better then small lol
I know quite a few French people who have been to the US and they say that in the US the vegetables are tasteless and expensive lol
But on the other hand, they love the American mentality, which they find better than the French one. And for the anecdote, I've heard many French women say that American men are more gallant than French ones.
what you described does sound pretty American, so how would you say the pretty average french are? 🤔
Get out of the US…travel a bit…you will understand…humans are not so different. I love how we are all very similar.
In terms of food…there are foods in the US that cost $500-$1,000.. or a $1,000 bottle wine…
France has cheap eats just like the US… Europeans/French/ Italians…etc… value quality life… vs. the US makes you work and eat at the same time. I hate that. We were in France last year and every meal was 2 hrs. long. You sit down, they treat you well and you don’t have to tip. In NY, some places stamp a timer to limit hour and half to eat…I hate that.
I just got to Norway 2 days ago … I am already helaither with food eaten here. I may have to live here for my health. Food in the US is making me sick.
yea cause they are poisoning us slowly and its nice to see you too midnight but ill stay in my bubble in the US, but have fun on your travels tho 😆
Thank you 777…. You got it. the US govt wants people to be comfortable and weak so they never get the motivation to do better. It’s definitely comfortable living in a bubble. Enjoy it.
I’m the opposite … I love taking charge and making changes in my life to be above govt. control. I started at your age…slowly… took years to get to where I’m at. But nothing crazy…mostly fun.!
yea the reason i never want to leave this country is pretty petty, no lie its cause i can take my gun to another country and its what keeps me here, but yea its good that you enjoy life the way you do, by all means keep enjoying it 😆👍💯
can't*
No, my tickets are already booked, hotel is already paid for. I just hope my friend is still able to make it lol.
I'd say "No". France is pretty large and it seems that the riots are mainly in the big cities
French protest so frequently that it's become their national sport. So I can get caught up in something regardless
I read these current ones are because some African and some Arab were killed by police, and it's mostly French ANTIFA that are rioting
I would say no. Living in California there ain't shit we're afraid of. Just ask a wino, because a wine in California isn't afraid of nothing but running out of wine. That's the only thing that'll panic of wino.
No, we have riots here all the time in the USA to. I blame our country's leadership for the last 240 years
I lost interest in Paris, France at least 10 years ago
No, not afraid. I've been to France, several times... just have no need nor desire to go there now, or in the near future.
Well all I’m going to say is justice for Nahel Merzouk and all the minorities in France that are constantly faced with brutality and racism.
Really? Is it brutality to be killed while you use a car to assault police, all while essentially resisting arrest?
@Exterminatore nothing and I mean absolutely NOTHING justifies killing Nahel Marzouk.
The French system is institutionally racist and that is not a debatable topic. The policeman looked at an ethnic, Arab looking young man and decided to pull the trigger out of hate. That would have not happened if Nahel was French.
Nothing? Do you seriously mean to tell me that using a vehicle as a weapon in order to nudge a cop out of your way to evade justice, placing that officer at risk for grave injury or death, and possibly others down the road does not necessitate using deadly force in self defense.
Why? Cause his skin color is brown?
Watch the video of the incident because that’s not what happened. His race and skin color are irrelevant, he used that vehicle as a weapon, because he did in fact hit that cop with the fender in an attempt to flee the scene. That’s not to mention that cops foot could have been run over, that’s not to mention that cop could have easily been pinned between the vehicle and the concrete wall behind him.
There are consequences for our actions, sometimes those consequences are serious bodily injury or death.
I think you’re just looking to cry about imaginary racism.
@Exterminatore I’m not having this conversation with you.
Good and you shouldn’t. You’ll make yourself look stupid.
I would like to add if you’re living in France I hope your car is burned, your house burned to the ground your possessions stollen, and that you fear for your safety from the mob who think stealing the possessions and destroying the possessions of others is justice.
You promote lawlessness and I hope you suffer the consequences for doing so. That’s the only way you’ll ever learn that…yeah…. maybe brown skinned people commit crimes too and every such instance is not one of racism.
@Exterminatore you’ve just clearly set out who the violent one here is.
And I’m not having this conversation because speaking with a dumb and ignorant person is a waste of time. Your opinion won’t change anything because you’re a nobody in society.
@LostandFound__x How can you deny what’s caught on video? It literally shows the kid hitting the police officer with his car while attempting to flee.
Is that not textbook definition of resisting arrest and assaulting an officer?
This is France we're talking about, you need to be more specific😆
France is finally realizing what happens when you let unvetted fighting age men from lawless violent countries that generally hate the west in for cheap labor and easy votes. We had our experience with this in 2020. Instead of solving the problem, our leaders just opened the gates wider and increased the financial incentives to come here. What happened to the French army general who predicted in 2020 that this would happen in France at a later date as a tesult of these policies?
Oddly enough there were no riots after the Charlie Hebdo murder.
If I were to go to France, I'd go deep into the countryside and to the wine regions, so no, I'm not afraid. I also don't want to go to France. LOL
It seems to be the monthly thing... so I dont feel atracted to go there anymore... I went before but now I think there are better places... Italy, Greece... even Germany or Switherland...
Im afraid it will happen in my coutry.
A police officer was killed, weve had several kidnapings, a 78 year old woman was raped by one and a 20y/o by 2.
And our government wants to abide by the quotas imposed by the eu.
Many places in the world that I would have wanted to visit in the past are doubtful now due to the present world situation today.
I wasn't planning on going there any time soon.
It isn't high up on my list of places to go to.
there are always riots in france, that's every other da
I have never liked France but this is not why, here in the uk we lived with the IRA blowing up things for 30 pluss years of my young life so France is just a hick-up with the young one out there.
Why are there even non-whites in France?
France is a European country and has been mostly or entirely white for thousands of years
Nope. Riots don't bother me. I just have no desire to visit France
No. People still go to Mexico on holiday even though the place is run by drug dealers and averages about 90 murders a day. You just don't go to the bad parts. Same with France. France is a beautiful country. Just don't go where the riots are.
Of course not, they have had riots before and worse, like the terror attacks. France is the country i want to visit the most.
Not afraid but I wouldn't go there unless it was work related.
If I was feeling adventurous and going to a dangerous country then I might as well go to Brazil.
I just came back from France less than a week ago and didn't see any protests.
No. But I have family there that I worry about every now and then.
no, i still would love to go to paris. all countries get violent, at some point. just look at nov. 6 here in the states
Well I probably never want to go to France because they are little rude to Americans but I don’t think it’s a good time to go to France
They been having riots since the French revolution after the overthrowing of King Louis XVI. Theirs no difference 🤨
I was actually considering getting a pass port and visiting this year.
These riots won’t last too long I hope.
I think there are no riots in the Côte d'Azur region.
I think France should take in more illegal immigrants. That should help them.
😂😂😂😂😂
That's mainly Paris and there's other nice places to visit in France.
I didn't even know that was going on in France. Either or I would never visit that country! My Grandfather's cousin was killed in action, for the US Army liberating France
Nope. Pay for my airfare and my hotel and I’m there. 🤷♂️
I've been to worse places. And seen worse.
No. I was already afraid to come to France. I've been afraid to come to France since 2015.
no but they eats snails and frogs so there is that 😅besides they won't accept my visa😂
Lol I think most people are afraid to come the US because of our mass shootings more than France
by the time I travel to France the riots will most likely be over
no riot will get between the love I and @leahzrc have for each other
Yup! I spent enough time dealing with that kind of crap. I don't mind if I NEVER see it again!
No. i was afraid to go. to France before because its full of the French
France is a third world country now, HARD PASS.
No, we have a lot worse things happens in the US.
