Do they not have a section for religious books? I think it's great to have as many different religious texts available as possible as a learning tool, but I definitely wouldn't list it under any of the categories provided. If there's really not a religions section then probably more with books on philosophy, so non-fiction, but like with a grain of salt because it's not actually objectively non-fictional?
The question isn't how IS it, but how SHOULD it be... really, the question is more about you than the Bible
I think it should be put under "popular books" There has been more Bibles printed than any other book in history. People should read it more as it has a lot of useful information in it.
the ammount of people who chose "non-fiction historical" is concerning. because even as a bliever you should understand this is a book of legents and stories. not a history book.
Religious text have enough books for its own section.

It has no place in a library. If anyone is interested in the bible, they would have their own.
If, like me, you have no interest in it, they you wouldn't have one and a library copy would be unnecessary.
"It has no place in a library." - Says who? The Dewey Decimal System has a section for it, as does the Library of Congress System that more advanced university libraries use. Theology is a subject of study.
@Curmudgeon Surely, if you were studying theology, you would have at least one edition of the bible. No need for a library copy. Like bibles being in hotel rooms placed by the Gideons ars offensive to people like me who are Pagan. Not the bibles themselves, but the fact they are in the room.
And the fact the hotel let's them do it is a tacit endorsement of that faith, question is, would they let any religious groups leave their literature? If so, it will get very cluttered.
I agree!
@Jessica405 Lots of things in a library might be offensive to you. Would you like a ban on pagan books there? The point of a library is to store literature of all kinds.
If you don't like the hotels that do that, then don't patronise them.
@Curmudgeon I try not to! LOL!
As an atheist I believe all religious texts such as the Bible are still reference books because they document a belief system and are of historic importance.
Religion, culture, philosophy, or some shit like that. Public library should have more than 6 sections lol.
How about putting it under the BOLLOX section.
So what? We still learn from many Mythology stories, even though they are not literally true. Moreover, ncient Egypt, the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah, and the Hittite, Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian, Alexander's Greek Empires, and the Roman Empires were all very real. Now was the Hand of God involved? That is a different issue.
220. The number specifically created for it.
In the Dewey Decimal 200 series with all of the other religious books.
Fiction -Fantasy
None of it is real
Except some of it is. Ancient Egypt, the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah, and the Hittite, Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian, Alexander's Greek, and Roman Empires were all very real. Now was the Hand of God involved? That is a different issue.
Bible, same like Church used and still is, a Brain washing book.
So what?
Nonfiction- religion.
Poetry is also considered nonfiction although it is quite abstract.
Historical non fiction. 29% of this website are morons.
Sadly this. The Empires and Rulers it describes were in fac real people. Now was the Hand of God truly involved with them? That's a different questions.
