Do you think the U. S. and England are third world countries with lots of money?

What it means is there's lots of money floating around but none of it is actually being used to help people. Things like public transportation, healthcare, public education, job placement, job training, social work all kinds of things that people need to flourish and develop or get out of bad situations so they can do better in the future just get neglected and deliberately run down or completely destroyed. So if you have a lot of money and can plug all the holes that the country has left, then you can live fine but if you're a regular person you get screwed at every opportunity.

There's a quote:" A developed country is not a country where the poor drive cars but where the rich use public transportation".

And I think the same is true for education a developed country is where the rich send their kids to public school which is true in my country but I don't think it's true for the U. S. or England.

Well, “first world” and “third world” are actually to do with geography set by early explorers. But yes we do use them in modern language to denote poorer countries.

And economists have compared percentages of poverty, mortality rates, social climbing, etc, and found that technically the US could be labeled “third world” because of its vast vast wealth inequality. We’re moving toward Russian oligarchy….

England I would consider developed.

But the US for instance, I would rank more on par with Mexico, Brazil or South Africa. We have areas that are really nice, but we also have areas that are really shitty. We're the lowest ranked "developed" nation on earth, so I would consider us half developed.

England is trying hard to be like the U. S. though. At least the current government. They're underfunding every social service and underpaying all the government employees and trying to privatize anything they can even healthcare.

He does suck but honestly the conservatives have done so many bad things to the country over the last 13 years and even before I don't know if any conservative could actually turn things around. I feel like he's just there as a placeholder until they lose the election. The only things he's doing is making sure him and his family get richer and flying to the U. S. to talk to companies about privatizing the NHS. I'm glad the rest of Europe is a bit less susceptible to the American games. That's one o the biggest reasons for the EU to exist in the first place so the U. S. can't bully individual European countries economically.

The problem with England (and the UK as a whole) is the wealth doesn't get disturbuted as fairly as it should. There's long been a bias in favour of London and surrounding counties. Even Sunak boasts he took money out of poorer areas and redirected it into wealthier one's.

Ridiculous. This is the type of nonsense that people who have not travelled the world say. Yes, yes you have travelled to other countries in Europe, so what they are so close together and part of the EU.

The US and UK are being overrun by people trying to come in because its so much better here. These people could go to anywhere but they come to the US and UK by the millions. Tens of millions of people are breaking in and even risking their lives! Many times the population of Switzerland have come to these countries in the past decade.
