I had my DNA done Through ancestry ( Regrettably) and they Identified my Uncle and Grandmother announcing that the science suggests these people are under 1st Cousin tier of my family tree and My 2nd cousin's mother under my 2nd cousin tier.

So It doesn't matter if they have your DNA or not, They would get hits on all your relatives and know how closely they are related to you anyway.

Once they bring up your family tree on a screen and cross examinate the information they only have 1 or 2 other people to rule out before they have you.

DNA puts you at the scene but doesn't always say when you were there or what you did there. That said, only criminals would object to a database.

Imagine an apocalyptic scenario and DNA was used to track down a suspected prepper family. Cops with Hungary families would hunt them down and kill them.

People only help each other to a point but when starvation sets in people will kill for a meal. Would you raid a prepper to save yourself or someone close to you? You might have to pry that MRE from a preppers cold dead hands because he would be rationing food to stretch it out for himself. I've went 1 week without food once and having that ravenous hunger will drive you to consider things you wouldn't normally. I looked at a dog and wondered what it tasted like and if it would settle my aching stomach.

Governments cannot be trusted with any database for a number of reasons although they keep making more of them.
But in theory, I've long thought this is an obvious thing to do. The US and other countries already assigned everyone a number, why not attach DNA to that record too. It would make identification, tracking, and law enforcement easier.
