Surviving WW3 (Judgement Day) would you really want to?

If world war 3 broke out the reality of how hard life would be trying to survive after that means that I would honestly hope to die.

Picture trying to survive Judgement day. Even if you manage to survive get out of the craters of irradiated cities you still have to contend with the atomic fallout, that radioactive dust carried by the wind. Water & food you may forage & hunt might be radioactive. Then there's nuclear winter where soot from the firestorms and explosions of various nuclear weapons is thrown into the atmosphere blocking the sun which means climate change cooling the planet and blocking out the sun which would result I'm massive crop failure and death of wildlife and plants. This breeds famine and where there's famine there's disease. Any surviors would be dieing of cancers and tumours, people would find themselves infertile and even impotent due to the radiation and children would be born with birth defects.

As for fighting with sticks and stones, no there would be plenty of guns and ammunition for survivors.

We are fortunate that Putin does not have a death-wish, and Joe Biden has yet to force him into a position where his power is at stake and thus hand is forced.

Sooner or later if this war keeps escalating that will happen. We are already at the point of sending Ukraine ever better missile's M1A1 tanks, and F16s.

We have in doing so made ourselfs an ever more important and legitimate military target of Russia. Russia has to shut down the flow of aid to their enemies and frankly Russia's options for doing so are scary and vast.

Russia could try to bomb the trade route and ships as they are.
Russia could simply attack the factories here in the USA with conventional weapons as that is a ligitiamte target.

Russia also has at it's disposal a wide range of Bio weapons they could use including one of the last samples of Smallpox. Which Russia could easily modify and deploy and we would be none the wiser but just as well crippled as China's COVID-19 proved.

Everything you suggest doesn't help Russia win in Ukraine. Russia couldn't attack US factories in the US with conventional weapons, its just too far and they wouldn't be able to do enough damage to justify it. Using biological weapons would be a mistake much like using Chemical weapons. It invites a response.
What Putin really needs is a peace settlement that justifies the war and that makes Russia look strong. The Russian military has been made to look weak in Ukraine. They've walked into a trap and are fighting a war they are not prepared to fight. The US will continue to supply Ukraine to bleed Russia.

Russia does have weapons that can reason our factories here in North America if they deem that necessary. More likely they will just get more and more intrusive at destroying the weapons as they enter the Ukraine until doing something that triggers larger scale NATO involvement forcing Russia into the only position in which they would have to use nukes with their existence threaten.

That said as COVID-19 proved bio weapons are very good option, thou not targeted, Russia could easily stock up on vaccines for its own population then release something like a variant of Smallpox.

They are of course first to vaccinate their population while our economies get shut down like was the case with COVID-19. Russia evades responsibility for the same reason china did with COVID-19.

After all they could easily plant the virus anywhere in the world or even just 'carelessly' leak it out of their labs as China did. Unlike china they can suppress information on the outbreak until it appears to be-happening in many places at once.

Smallpox just happens to be a particularly deadly virus that Russia has access and can easily activate against if given a lead time. There are countless other options for Russia that are even less obvious. Either way the result is the same. Our supply chains collapse and they with acquitted vaccines are still fighting.

@Drewtate It's worth noting that if Russia did release something like a variant of Smallpox which Russia does in fact have access to, Smalpox with a 30% death rate, hundreds of millions would die, before we could contain it.

Like it or not this is the world we live in today and its only going to get worse, as bio-technology get even more wide spread and advance.

Its a real shame congress refused to put acquitted resources and time into investigating the origins and failures of COVID-19 response. We might have identified better ways to identify new virus early and act to slow the spread, and make vaccines faster.
Instead we got stonewalled by a goverment Bureaucracy that didn't want us to know the truth and was obsessed with authoritarian methods that didn't work.

Russia has ICBMs but without the nuclear warhead they just wouldn't do enough damage to effect us factory production. Their bombers are to short range. Their submarines would never get close enough to launch cruise missiles and even if they did their subs don't carry enough to do any real damage.
Again biological weapons are a bad tactic because it invites retaliation and exposes yourself to a virus. It's the same reason the nazis and British and Germans didn't use chemical weapons on each other. Don't forget the US had biological weapon labs in Ukraine and has experience with mass testing of biological weapons on humans.
As for attacking supply chains we are seeing Russian airpower struggling in Ukraine, Russian aircraft are reduced to launching missiles at Ukrainian forces inside Russian airspace to avoid being shot down. They are blindly launching huge cruise missile and artillery salvos where one shot would do because they can't locate Ukrainian positions.

The best thing Russia could do is cyber attacks.

@Drewtate Russian and frankly Ukrainian military doctrine is build around attacking/defending from NATO which has the habit of focusing most of our resources in air forces. As such the Russians and the Ukrainian are very well focused on anti-air. That is why there isn't a lot more than missiles flying very far.

Its an open question if The Ukraine had a western scale air-force if it would change anything.

As for a biological weapon, you would first have to recognize it as a bio-attack and we certantly didn't recognize COVID-19 as one. 2nd the west would have to be willing to add to their own troubles in producing vaccines with the vaccines required to launch their own bio-weapon attack.

Do you really see us sacrificing millions of lives just to hit expose billions more people to yet anther plague which we will be just as hard pressed to deal with?

Bio weapons like nuclear weapons don't make sense unless you have the foresight to be prepared ahead of time. Which advantageous the attacker overwhelmingly. In the past we might assume the defender could respond with anther form of WMD attack like nukes, but as we learned in COVID-19 that presupposes we know it was a bio-weapon attack and from whom. It is a trivial matter to muddy the waters as the people who covered COVID-19 demonstrated.

If Ukraine had F16s they'd be able to strike into Russian territory the way the way the Russians strike into Ukraine as well as strike Russian anti Air defenses and troops postions. F16s have some good weapons options and targeting systems in attack and anti Air role.
NATO air doctrine is about neutralising Air defenses and enemy aircraft and establishing air dominance before supporting thd ground war.
Covid 19 was likely US made and a biological and sociological experiment, the US government has conducted such things before and it was really the Chinese who suffered the most in terms of deaths, trade and economically. Again a weapon that causes as much harm to yiu as the enemy is worthless espicially if there's retaliation.
Do I see us risking millions of lives? We are already doing that. We saw the risks we took when boarders were left open and airport's weren't shut not to mention Christmas.
Nobody can use nuclear weapons no matter how prepared they are. The after effects would be too deadly. Biological weapons like ebola, smallpox or bubonic plague can't be used because they can mutate and your vaccine is useless.
Other forms of attack are more deadly and hard to trace like cyber warfare. The entire infrastructure that runs the country. That means stopping water supplies, shutting off electric, flooding dammed, disruption of the banking and stock market, messing with prescriptions, stopping fuel distribution etc. You'd be surprised how automated everything actually is.

@Drewtate I am not sure I beleive the F16 would give the Ukraine such an advantage, but it does move them much closer. One of the problems with the F16 thou it like most western jets its built to operate from well maintained air bases.

The Russians learned one thing from world war 2 and communism is having a well maintained airfield isn't nessarly a luxury you have.

I think the evidence shows the U. S. was definitely involved in the development of COVID-19 although it looks like it was the chineses military alone that was trying to weaponize it.

The Dr. Fauci was simply trying to play mad scientist and our political leaders overloaded by the 100,000 other responsibilities they gave themselfs were not paying close enough attention to this particular expenditure to realize what was happening.

To that end most of them are not interested in a real investigation because it would condemn them, and reckless uncontrollable goverment Congress is spending our money without any idea what its actually doing with that money.

This time millions of people died, the next time it could be billions. Really almost nothing has been done, the gravy is still flowing, indeed even the very lab which created COVID-19 took what 3+ years for congress to finally stop funding?

I don't beleive my congressman has any idea how many other such mad-scientist 'experiments' they are spending trillions of our dollars on so you can forget about there ever being a debate much less a vote on the matter.
Congress always has far too many other issues on their plate nearly all of them are just as much ignored the time. Congress is today an extreme definition of a distracted driver.

@Drewtate Not all virus mutate, for example we were able to wipe out Smallpox primarly because it DID NOT mutate unlike COVID-19(china flu) fast enough.

So yes SmallPox would be a great bio weapon today as most of the world's population has never been vaccinated, and there is NOT a stockpile of vaccines enough waiting, particularity if the attacking country modified it a little.

The same is true of many other bio-weapons.

That's how the US has operated F16s with well maintained runways and 17 hours of maintenance per flight simply because the US hasn't been operating on a war footing were you would refuel an f16 straight after a mission and send it back out. The F16 has never been pushed , they've always tried to maintain it to extend its service life. The F18 would have been better for Ukraine.
Who suffered the most from Covid 19? The chinese. My own personal view was that it was an overall biological weapon experiment to test how fast a biological weapon would spread and how much populations could be controlled.
Politicians espicially in the US aren't in control. The deep state runs itself and Politicians are there to vote in the policies of their paymasters.
No more died from covid than die every year of the flew. I tested positive for covid twice, it was like a bad flu. Most covid deaths were related to preexisting health conditions and old age. So if you were obese, diabetic etc you had a good chance of dying. Also some of the treatments for covid probably killed more people than covid itself.
Smallpox was wiped out because it was targeted on a global scale at the same time. It could have very easily made a come back.

@Drewtate Congress has created the deep state via assuming too many powers and responsibilities for them to even know about, never-mind vote on or even watch.

This is the problem with have a big centralized goverment. Nobody actually runs anything, and yet every one of our congressmen is responsible for this situation because they keep voting to approve the spending.
Indeed they can't even vote to "shut the goverment down" by that they mean simply run on existing tax revenue.
They are like a blind man who insist he can drive and keeps getting behind that wheel, so how is it that they are NOT responsible? That people are paying them to keep trying as to collect on the insurance only condemns Congress's exploiters too as relatively minor offenders.

We the people are even more responsible for the problem than they are because we actually are not taking the keys away. But at least most of us are doing it out of sheer stupidity and ignorance.

Very few Americans have bothered to look at all they are trying to "govern" as to realize its not even humanly possible to do so, certantly not under theses rules.

As for Plagues i agree COVID-19 was a relatively minor outbreak that hardly justified any measures beyond a bad flu with such a low death-rate even counting people who died for other reasons as they did. Smallpox and many other historic plagues by contrast is a completely different animal. It will kill very large share of the population, as much as 30%.

I live in Estonia, next to border with Russia. After Russia invaded Ukraine i became member of Estonian Defence League. So i will be basicly one of the first responders if there will be war between NATO and Russia.

Right now i dont see that happening. So everyone can relax. Future for Russia will be catastrophic. Next year will be Russias presidential election. Will Putin be president again after sending so many people to war? Or president will be Prigozhin? Many young smart people have escaped from Russia so who will run this country in the future?

Even still Putin won't attack NATO, no matter how much Putin and Russia want Estonia, they don't stand a chance of winning any kind of war against NATO.

Despite living in a fairly rural area my chances aren't good here in west wales. There's an important oil refinery and port nearby and quite a bit of military land, it's also a refuelling stop for American bombers. So I reckon we'll take a hit.

Assuming the wind blows in the right direction away from me I'm able to live off the land but the real issue is going to be refugees fleeing West from England. We saw a preview during Covid when they fled here for safety.
