They are arguing that black people should get money for slavery. But then white peoples died to liberate them. Then the people who died from civil war need money too?
Slavery is a touchy subject but this compensation narrative in the U. S is as always strange, pointless and serves no purpose but to rile people against each other.
Reality of slavery is this: It is normal in history.
The first civilizations we know of in Sumeria, Mesopotamia had slaves. Its believed Africa, the cradle of humanity, had slaves before that too.
Every known civilization since are proven to have had slaves except the aborginials in Australia and.. was it the aztec? It isn't that they absolutely did not - we just don't have proof they did. Everyone else did. Everyone.
So. 3500 years of slavery. All of human history as we know it: Slavery.
It isn't as if white people came to Africa and captured slaves and started it all. They came and traded and Africa had a massive slave trade - and offered slaves. White people were at fault for accepting, not starting it.
Then, after a few generations of rampant slavery in the US and to a much lesser extent Europe, for the first time in human history something happened. The oppressed slaves rose up, and were allowed to talk freely. That's new, but not revolutionary. Amazing people, mostly black, spoke up in ways that still set the golden standard for what eloquence should aspire to be. For the first time in known human history the oppressors listened. And not only that, for the first time in human history people in power decided to outlaw slavery worldwide with the threat of war against anyone who did not comply - that is the former oppressors decided to not just outlaw it but stake their own lives on making it so. On making it right from then on. That's reparation done right and black, white, brown, yellow, red so on all rallied together to support it.
Its very easy to blame white people for slavery although their participation was no more than anyone else's. If we are to blame caucasians for it, and everyone else too, we should also celebrate that these same people ended slavery.
No slavery is not historically normal. It is an anomaly. An oddity. Just because we live in a world where it is outlawed we shouldn't assume it always was. It would make more sense to argue in favour of a White-People-Thank-You month for ending slavery than reparations for it. But seriously, we could just be glad its over and tackle other horrible still existing issues that we are all equally victims to - like forced prostitution, child labour and so on. The still existing slavery of today that we should be waging war on instead of slandering each other online.

What white people are these? That's a narrative we've been told to placate white guilt over the history of slavery and racism in the United States. The civil war had less to do with liberating slaves for the sake of the slaves and more to do with the southern states succeeding from the union as well as ending slavery itself for economic reasons and to stop slavery from spreading western into new states. Let's be real if republicans and Democrats could have after the civil war they'd have either sent all the former slaves to Liberia or executed them but they still needed black folks to pick the cotton. Let's not forget what the genocide of the native Americans after the civil war.
History is what happened and why, ots not something that can be revised to suit a political narrative.
Civil war was barely fought for slaves tbh, that was like a minor thing the North wanted from the South.
Also doesn't mean much when white people enslaved them. You don't get rewards for undoing your bad thing.
White people also had their children stolen from them but it seems no one sees and issue with it but black people have their child stolen from them and it's a bug deal. I just find it hypocritical

Reparations should come from their own people who enslaved them. That’s where it all started.
This is why White people should NEVER help minorities
