Apparently there is a gender pay gap among Uber drivers, resulting in women being paid less than men. However, this system is all automated. There is no person picking who gets hired, nor a person picking who gets paid more than others.

However, this disparity in pay can actually be explained by several factors. The data shows that men are more willing to work at more difficult times like rush hour, graveyard shifts, or early mornings. Men also drove faster than women, resulting in more efficient transmits (and subsequently, are able to fit more transmits in their work day).

So if this instance where discrimination can't be applicable, and the difference in pay gap can be explained by other factors, what does this say about the pay gap people allege is due to discrimination in less clear-cut cases/fields, where it CAN be possible to discriminate? What if it isn't discrimination and the average work ethics of men and women as a whole differs to some degree?
