When Trump set out to build the wall many immigration experts denounced it saying it would not be effective in keeping immigrants out and would be a drain on resources that could be used in other ways to stem the illegal immigration. Trump only built 52 miles of wall, and migrant apprehension actually rose. So much for the effectiveness of the wall. The money was appropriated under Trump and has to be used for the purpose of building a wall as stipulated by the administration that enacted the law.

There is only so much the administration can do without new legislation and/or funding, but the house Republicans are blocking the administration requests, such as a funding request to support border enforcement. So the administration is left with a requirement to build more wall that is failing, and no money to actually bolster border enforcement. And the House Republicans continue the shit show of screwing up everythin.

Not a lie, but a confusion of what was built. According to www.vox.com/.../biden-border-wall-trump-immigration "only 52 miles of wall had been constructed where there had not been a barrier before." So Trump tore down some walls and replaced them with stronger and higher ones. "Migrant apprehensions nevertheless rose under Trump" so even after all the new walls, more migrants were getting in.
Regardless of who had the House and Senate, the appropriation was for the wall and could not be used otherwise.
In some places the Border patrol says the wall is a big help. In other places they say it is not helping.
Part of the border is in the middle of the Rio Grande in deep water. If they build the fence on our side of the border. the migrants can get to our side before the river gets shallower and that allows them to apply for asylum. And they cannot build it on the other side as that belongs to Mexico.
No one voted for someone named dementia Joe in the primary. But many thousands voted for Biden in the primary. It is hard to get national counts since each state counts their own and assigns delegates, but in Minnesota Biden received 287,553 votes. By comparison, still in Minnesota, Trump received only 137,275 votes. So your statement that no one voted for Joe in the primary is a lie.

Also, its possible that he could have reallocated the funding previously, but that is no longer possible with the Republicans controlling the house. Not entirely sure what is required to reallocate emergency funding like that nor do I care.

You see, walls are more effective the smaller area you try to protect. A castle for example works really well, the wall of China on the other hand? Not so much. The wall by itself is pointless since any static obstacle can easily be defeated by a mere civilian. A 31 foot ladder against a 30 foot wall is a common example but the details are not important.

Point is that you need an active element to go along with the wall. Meaning manpower. Where as 30 guys can hold a castle against an invading force of thousands, that is not the case for a border wall. You are going to require thousands upon thousands upon thousands of border agents patrolling that wall day and night forever. You also need to build and maintain this wall.

To build the wall alone would clost somewhere along 60 billion dollars plus yearly maintenance and when you add the manpower required to repair, patrol and run logistics on this you basically have a new military budget you need to find money for in your yearly budget.

To put it bluntly, USA simply does not have the manpower or money to waste on something this stupid and my estimates are low, it will definitely cost a lot more. Just like the Chinese nation states that collapsed under the strain of building the Chinese wall, so too would USA fail under the massive weight of building the border wall.

But here is the real kicker. Border crossings only happens because they are "Easy". If you succeed in making them harder then you won't stop them, you just divert them to the next easiest point of access. And in fact, border crossings are fairly rare compared to for example crossings at legal ports of entry. Why try to sneak across a wasteland when you can just drive on a nice road?

Building the border wall is like trying to close a broken window when you have both the front door and the rear door open.
