Why is that political left wing people tend to care more about culture and the arts then people on the political right?

When it comes to people who appreciate art, create art, appreciate their culture and other cultures they tend to be more liberal.

I care about the arts and culture and I like to think of myself as sophisticated but it seems like people on the right tend to be “hicks” oftentimes when it comes to this.

Why is that you think?

This seems strange since right wingers care more about preserving western culture then open boarders leftists.

i think in recent times it's become pretty much the same on both sides. everyone is overly sensitive. triggered to easily. hell bent on ridding things that don't sit with them

I don't think that's true. I mean, the right is interested in and loves culture, but they don't like current culture, or most of it. Personally, apart from "paintings" and sculpture and a large part of modern architecture, which I find extremely ugly, everything else seems perfectly acceptable, whether it's music, films or literature...

I'm quite surprised by this pointed opinion of American conservatives, given that most modern art comes from the USA, and that American culture is quite superficial in the sense that what does American culture boil down to? It boils down to Hollywood, the music industry and McDonald's, Starbucks etc. Well, you know what I mean...

I suppose by the time American really started to grow and prosper modern art began to become popular and classical music was started to give way to blues and Jazz.

Maybe it because most pre modern art is foreign that most conservatives don’t care for it.

To answer you more seriously, I think that if American conservatives think like that, it's a mistake. You mustn't think that today's art is "degenerate", although there's a lot of bad stuff, even really horrible stuff for me, there's also a lot of very good stuff.

For the rest, for me, nothing will equal the culture of Augustus or Louis XIV... But that's just my opinion lol

I’m an ultranationalist hardline Conservative who knows more about art than most people could ever dream. I’ve gone to numerous art museums, around the world, studied a multitude of artistic movements, and can even discuss art and artists from various cultures and hemispheres.
