Why do conservatives and pro lifers aka gilead theocrats now want to take away the states right to give women access to abortion?

I thought they were all for giving states the right to choose to give women access to abortion and contraceptives but as I stated, once they realize they will lose making abortion illegal state by state, now they want to force states to make abortion illegal regardless of states rights. Seems to me states rights are a conservative talking point until the states reject them.

I lean conservative, and I don't like this. While I'm not a fan of abortion, I don't like government over reach. It always should have been a state issue. Under the Constitution, the federal government doesn't have the authority, which is why the Supreme Court gave it back to the states. If they can't grant it they can't ban it either. Sometimes, we just have to accept that the world isn't always how we want it to be.
