they are intending to arrest the attackers. you have to wait to have a charge to place the attackers with otherwise if you arrest them you'd have to release them anyway without a charge.
and what you charge them with needs to be conclusive. so the lack of an arrest is not necessarily due to some lascivious racial issue but rather the boy just died. so now police can finalize a charge and arrest people for it.

@strateguy632 but the victim didn't die til yesterday. so if they arrested and charged them the day after the event it would've been some sort of assault charge. if you aren't worried about the people fleeing then you wait til you have the charge you want to make. it's fairly standard practice. in america standard holding time is 48hrs to keep a person in jail without charges being brought. the victim died after two weeks right? it's fine to add charges but it looks feckless when charges have to be dropped

The charges could always have been upgraded to murder upon the victim's death, so that's no excuse for not already having filed charges.

Race has nothing to do with it. The police need to have hard evidence of exactly who caused the boy's death in order for the District Attorney to prosecute. You can't just charge 15 boys with manslaughter, and trying to determine which of the 15 are directly responsible for the boy's death takes a lot of detail investigation. Give the police time to determine that as best they can.
Faces are clearly visible in the videos attached. There isn’t any question about it. White boys would have been charged by now and the Department of Justice would be investigating as Biden would surely have instructed them to do so. This happened two weeks ago which is more than enough time. This should not have to catch on virally, it should have been reported broadly as it would have if the races were reversed. There is a clear double standard… and people know it.

For the same reason black, hispanic, native, Asian, and other white men/boys are killed every day with no real media coverage... Sometimes people and law enforcement don't really care. Vegas is also a higher crime area with more homicides. Murders are also less reported on in those areas. How often do we hear about every murder from Atlanta, LA, Detroit, NYC, Chicago, etc? We don't. How often do people get away with it? Every day.

There are nearly 2 million black millionaires in the U. S. So, everything has been improving at a rapid rate. There will always be poor and violent people of every ethnicity though.
I have mostly white ancestry, and I have no problem being honest about what Europeans are guilty of. My partner's Portuguese, and they invented the trans-atlantic slave trade that killed millions. Although they brag that they weren't dumb enough to hire Columbus, because he was mental. My European ancestors didn't really participate in the slave trade. They hung out in Canada or Europe until the 1900's. They moved into Minnesota after Natives were kicked out. That doesn't mean that vile things weren't done by whites. My ancestors benefited from those horrible things indirectly just like we do.
All of that being said, this incident is garnering a lot of press across the nation. It's not being ignored like most crimes against minorities. That is a major difference.

There are a lot of people in the vid. It isn't as simple as arresting and charging. They have to hold a case so the charges stick and will hold up at sentencing. It isn't as simple as that.
