Can you really kill someone with kindness to the point they feel terrible and change?

I've just read a Reddit story. This girl was a bully to some other girl for 3 years. She was a total biotch. The other girl had enough and decked her. She was complaining about getting grounded for a month after her parents found out she was instigator.

This is the update when she finds herself at the girl's mercy. She was forced to make peace because she messed with a smart girl that can help her with her school subjects. Her plan to use the other girl actually backfired. Guilt got through her when the girl treated her kindly in return and even convinced her parents to let her hang out for New Year, lessening her punishment. She ends up feeling in debt with the girl and ends up befriending her, lol.

Can that really happen, killing someone with kindness? The person you treated like garbage forgave you, treated you nicely that you feel terrible and even question your past actions.
