I'm sorry, I don't mean to be insensitive. I really do feel bad for these people but. How do they have money to fight a war against people who repeatedly say they just want to be left alone but no money for food or shelter.

And saying hamas is just a bunch of regular people is a pretty far stretch. They're mostly regular people sure, only they're not from Gaza and they're only there because they're being paid. It's essentially a military of desperate people who either need money or want to rape and murder with no consequences.

Fair enough, that's going to happen in any war. But it's kinda ridiculous to act like they're these poor people just trying to defend themselves against... What a bunch of teenagers who would probably rather be in med school or watching Netflix?

They can't do that because they're dealing with the psychological warfare of attacking civilian cities from places that if they retaliate would obviously completely fuck you in the head.

I mean can you even for a minute imagine being in the Israeli military and you have to make that call, either allow missiles that are starting to slip past the iron dome continue or bomb a hospital. And no matter who talks to the other side, every time you try, they release another video that says death to all jews. Every time you give them something else, more land, more autonomy, more resources from your own land, it's used to make you pay for it each and every time.

No one is saying that it is okey to hide behind civilians when fighting a war but Israel, as an independent country, is held to a higher standard both for their status and their ability to inflict harm. A group of terrorists and a prominent country is not held to the same standards and they are not held to the same respect.

It is also the fact that this is objectively Israels fault in the first place. This is hardly a unique situation in human history and we have very detailed studies in how to both make the situation better and how to make it worse. Israel has consistently, over decades, intentionally made things worse to maintain and escalate the conflict. This suffering is specifically what Israel has chosen. This is what they want.

Sadly I can't find a video specifically about how Israel has been part in perpetuating this conflicts since previously, Beau has a sadistic sense of obscure video titles.

Anyways, shorter answer. Attacking Gaza is a simple and repeatable politically beneficial move for leaders in Israel. Meanwhile it also helps build up the support for Hamas which gives them more manpower and resources meaning that both sides "benefit" from causing suffering in Gaza. There is a cyclical nature to this where it builds up, causes an incident and then wraps around to repeat later.

At this point, basically any form of military force employed by Israel to Gaza will be seen as unjustified by the people, even if it first has to be filtered through the lens of lies and propaganda, and therefore will build the foundation for the next cycle where it all repeats again. The only realistic way to stop this is to stop the cycle of violence, and yes that will feel unfair and immoral by both sides who both think that the other has yet to pay for their horrible acts and crimes.

As long as the violence continues, as long as the people in Gaza is starving and has no future the conflict will just continue. It is a conflict built upon the suffering of civilians and looking through that point of view it becomes easier to see that only eliminating that suffering will address the underlying problem.

The issue with what beau is saying is that it's too late for a simple peace agreement. Whether you want to blame Israel for it or not, groups like hamas outwardly say they do not want peace, they want sheria law, they do not hide that this whole situation was by their own design. They knew Isreal was going to bomb the shit out of Gaza, they knew children were going to die.

These people are hired guns, and the idealists behind what they do used money from the military industrial complex as well as neo natzi.

The part where he's wrong though, is that through history, there are a handful of ways this problem has been dealt with and they all boil down to a two step process.

Assume dominance over the space. Meaning the actual space where the enemy lies must be occupied by your own force and it ideally should be overwhelming. In situations that are more political and structured it's less of a requirement but in this case I would say it's paramount.

Step 2 is to take the enemy's forces and get them far, far away.

There are many examples in history of this taking place and bringing peace to war torn areas for many decades, in the case of China, hundreds of years.

It became common after taking an area over, defeating an army or starving the enemy out, to dispose of political opponents and military personnel not with lethal force, but by sending them to a monastery in exchange for their lives, usually outside the main territory.

It is the most proven way to stop the cycle in history aside from just completely obliterating the enemy. Which Israel could obviously do at any moment.

Well yes, Beau (and me) openly admit that Israels response to the latest moves by Hamas has been so poorly executed that we will see another cycle of violence in the future. And yes, Hamas will want to continue this cycle of violence which includes them attacking innocent people just to provoke a response in kind, this is covered extensively in the manual I linked earlier.

I am not really aware of military occupation ever working, especially in modern times. Anytime a military force comes into a territory that has an insurrection, be they French troops, Soviet troops, American troops, British troops or otherwise it always results in the occupying force having to retreat and the insurgency growing.

I guess the latest examples of how badly this strategy works is just the American occupation in Afghanistan and Iraq. Total disasters both of them. Using military force and trying to impose order, or otherwise destroy the insurgency through military means just does not work.
