What else is there to think really? This is a person making their value judgement entirely based on people's race, gender, and sexual orientation.

A self admitted racist, sexist and sexual bigot.

To me it is insane that it is tolerated by any company. They must realize that this is not the sort of publicity they want.
However on the flip side if this would have otherwise been a small game flying under the radar then even negative attention may be beneficial. Sadly I doubt it is some clever marketing ploy. She is most likely just incredibly narrowminded and prejudiced.

I am not going to disagree. I have been involved with three LGBTQ+ groups by now. Being there to support friends.

In my teenage years I also found myself with a bunch of neo-nazis over a weekend.

The latter group was more accepting than any of the other LGBTQ+ groups. They still serve a purpose, but its very easy to go from standing up to yourself to chasing innocents with torch and pitchfork. Same thing happening here.

@Juxtapose you are darn right. I knew about the Stella Blade thing, if I remember correctly, the model is the designers wife. They don’t hate on just white people, they hate Asians too. Japanese devs have to send English descriptions of games only ment to be released in Japanese, to Sony’s headquarters in US to go through Playstations censorship policies, to get their games released on PlayStation. So many smaller Japanese dvs jumped ship and only release on Nintendo and PC now.

It's actually quite simple: "Nerd Culture", as we know it today, was largely founded by, and overwhelmingly pioneered by, autists. And if autists have one behavioral trait, it's- well, it's chewing stuff. But beyond that, it's a glorious total disregard for social status. They'll happily sit and listen at the feet of the master, whether "the master" is a wizened graybeard dispensing advice about life, or a six-year-old girl lecturing on Pokemon. Consequently, nerd culture, of which gaming is a part, grew up very egalitarian. If a female voice comes up on voice chat, she's going to get a LOT of attention, yes, but it won't be (or mostly won't be) hostile- just guys jostling to talk and/or flirt with her. Naturally, when the current crop of bigots sought to expand itself, gaming culture was a good fit.

But nerd culture isn't egalitarian because it values egalitarianism; it's egalitarian because it's meritocratic. Come to learn (respectfully), and you'll be welcomed; come to hang with the masters, and you'd damn well better be able to match them. Come to preach, and you're going to have a fight on your hands. Anita learned that the hard way- gamers are very much used to taking on opponents bigger and stronger than themselves; they're not going to be afraid of you.

The ensuing social struggle has been... unpleasant, but there was never really any doubt of the outcome. Many of the oldheads remember a time when "nerd" was unambiguously an insult; they don't fear social backlash, because they've been the worst of it before.
