I guess there is a presumption that more women who say they have been rated are telling the truth. So it generates the numbers and percentages that can be talked about.

The rapist however... none of them are going to be walking around talking about it. And of the amount accused, how many are proven true and how many claim innocence? So there is no reliable figures to talk about.

By all means talk about rapists in general. But it's a very murky area. a lot of men will also say there is not a clear definition of what rape even means. Most sensible men will back off a woman at any hint of indecisiveness for this reason. Rather than later have her claim rape.

Rape is bad because rape has victims, the dependent variable in the crime is the rapist, the independent variable that qualifies the crime as a crime is the victim. Without victims, the rape would not exist. That is why people monitor crimes by protecting the victim, and not by quantifying or tabulating the offender.

Because rapists are innocent until proven guilty and it often takes a lot of effort from prosecutors to prove rape occured beyond a reasonable doubt. To a jury, the woman simply saying she did not consent can be of no more weight than the man simply saying that she did. There has to be physical evidence and sadly due to the mechanics of rape you can't really tell the difference after the fact unless there are cameras.

So, we tend to settle for comforting the victims. And for some reason telling people they are not alone is our goto attempt to comfort people.

Your source is a blog post by someone who compiled a bunch of cherry picked statistics from studies designed to support a predetermined outcome to push a social agenda. How about we stick with valid and reliable sources. According to the FBI, as of 2022 the percentage of women who get raped is a small fraction of 1%.

Serious note: I just wrote a short story and sent to a 'friend' on GAG regarding this subject, a rape/sodomy, regarding a married woman with children, describing the rape and sodomy in detail (as you know, most or many rapes do involve sodomy and oral assault as well) I described the aftermath, of the assault, what the victim suffers with, and the additional 'insult added to injury" when reporting it.

Long story short: Many women do not want to suffer the humiliation of going to court and describing what was done to her during the assault. Lady Gaga was raped by her 'sound technician" ... but blamed herself for her mode of dress (very sad to hear that)

That is probably why many sex criminals never see prison time... because women are afraid to come forward.

Why do we always talk about committed crimes and not people who are likely to commit crimes?

Let's put it like this: I'd rather have a society of angels who rape occasionally than a society of devils who rape very infrequently.

Because if it's in their DNA, then their children will be rapists. And since they are rapists they are guaranteed to get women pregnant and survive. Whereas genetically pure ones shouldn't be punished just for some slip ups, because we need more genetically pure people on this world.

Because it's easier to figure out approximately how many women have *been* raped based on convictions. Whereas it isn't as easy knowing how many men *will* rape because we can't predict the future, especially not based on an arbitrary estimation. Also, 6.5-15%? Strange number. It would be on the higher end if you're in a more diverse area, too.

The reason why the "vast majority" of "these men" don't see prison time is because you can't put people in prison based on the *assumption* that they could be rapists. Especially not if it's an assumption based on, like I said, an arbitrary estimation.

Why don't more people talk about how there are more WOMEN child abusers in schools than men and how for the exact same crime they serve SIGNIFICANTLY less jail time?

Why don't people talk about how many women are actually rapists since men under the influence of alcohol can't give consent, so every woman that had sex with a man they met in a club/bar that was drinking is actually a rapist? With that standard, many more than 15% of women are rapists.

Roughly 8 billion humans, so roughly 4 billion of each gender.

15% of 4,000,000,000 individuals is a very large number.

I've counselled rape survivors. It's never an easy thing to hear someone talk about, men or women.

How is that estimated? It needs a definition of rape. Germane Greer and others have talked of husbands raping their wives by pestering them into sex when they would have rather not.

Somewhat different to a guy grabbing a girl off the street and pulling her into a car.

We need to use words with very specific meanings. Abuse, for example, could be knee capping with a baseball bat down to ignoring what your partner has just said. Same word but very different levels.
