Why do people change the meaning of feminism?

"modern feminism" doesn't exist. If you ever meet a woman that claims they are a feminist, but they want to overpower men, they're not a real feminist.

This is the definition of feminism:

"Quite simply, feminism is about all genders having equal rights and opportunities. It's about respecting diverse women's experiences, identities, knowledge and strengths, and striving to empower all women to realise their full rights."

I hate it when people say they aren't a feminist, but they do think men and women are equal, because then you are a feminist. Or when people start talking about all these "modern feminists" that hate men etc.. They simply aren't feminists. Feminism has always been about having equal rights AND being treated the same. Feminism is about having the choice to work or to be a housewife. Fake feminists that get mad at another women being a housewife, are again not real feminists. Real feminists support the choice/decision of that women. You can be a housewife and a feminist, as long as you support the right to choose what a women wants to do, instead of being forced to stay at home. You can be in a traditional lifestyle and still be a feminist. As long as you accept that other women might make different decisions or life their life in a different way.

We still need feminism to this day. Maybe not when it comes to rights in 1st world countries, but definitely in other parts of the world.

we don't change the meaning of feminism. we let the actions of the feminists dictate the meaning itself

when was the last time feminists did anything for men? heck feminists didn't really do anything for women. it was the concept of meritocracy and technology built by man that made women's lives easier

vacuum cleaners and washing machines replaced brooms and hand washing, social media allowing women access to top tier men they wouldn't have been able to access. men invented the BC pill and abortion, most if not all entertainment and academia caters to women and our society and politicians favor women over men etc.

now... what has happened to men as a result... loss of finances, loss of homes, loss of life, loss of reputation and no one cares about them and feminists should be the first to address this but nah... it's the MRAs who do it first and get demonized as a result of it

not to mention there's plenty of former feminists who have been kicked out by the feminists from Cassie Jaye to Karen Straughan, Norah Vincent, Bettina Arndt, Christina Hoff Summers... heck even Candace Owens used to be feminist and now feminists treat her like trash for calling out bad behavior from women

the actions speak for itself regardless of what words feminists use to describe themselves

They're not "changing the meaning of Feminism", they're being honest about it; there's nothing in "modern" Feminism that wasn't present at Seneca Falls. Feminists do not lobby, or even argue, for default 50/50 custody in divorce cases, or ending lifetime alimony, or banning infant genital mutilation, ending affirmative action policies, or any of the other issues that firmly demonstrate female legal supremacy; they fight to ENTRENCH them.

It's not about equality, and it never has been. At it's absolute best, it's about advancing the Cause of women and girls, with no regard for anything else. More commonly, it's a blatant supremacist hate movement, seeking to maintain the idea of perpetual female victimhood in the cultural mindset with no regard for actual reality. Ask Erin Pizzey; she can tell you.

What's happening nowadays is that increasingly, people are finally coming around to the truth.

I think it used to be called the "strawman" method of arguing. You see, the things that real feminist are advocating for (equality protection of the law, etc..) don't exist now - not by accident but because there have long been established people in power that don't want it to happen. And so when feminists ask for it they have to come up with reasons to deny it that appeal to a broader audience. And since there aren't any reasons that appeal to a broader audience they have to mischaracterize what feminists are asking for.

You can blame the women who are the bad ones for this. Real feminism, the feminism Christina Hoff Sommers practices is dead and has been dead for a long time, replaced by the kind of feminism that allows men claiming to be women to take their rights. A feminism that suggests men should be reduced to less than 10 percent of the world population. A feminism that talks about having a holiday called national castration day.. And so on. Blame the women who support these things.

It's why I'm an egalitarian, NOT a feminist, because I believe in true equality, not the fucked up lie that modern feminists push.

And yet feminists try to change the meaning of equality. Equality itself is equality and it's not a gendered term and not even synonymous to feminism if you really support true equality. I myself support equality that is why I am not a feminist.

I'll keep it simple.

Feminism = Feminism
Masculinism = Masculinism
Equality = Equality or Egalitarianism

But if you claim feminism is about equality, then so would masculinism but if not, then that's double standard that basically shows inequality.

Okay then why are they not even synonymous to equality? A movement that supports one group or another and call it equality is a oxymoron.

I don’t think we really need feminism. Men and women are equally important to one another, but take on very different roles in society and in families that don’t need to be equalized. Feminist attitudes just breed hostility towards men and disrupt the naturally different roles men and women take on.

I believe gender roles are social constructs to the extent that much of modern human life consists of social constructs. Working jobs or using money isn’t “natural” it’s just stuff we made up. So in that sense which genders work which jobs can be considered a social construct. With that said, early humans were mostly hunters and gatherers, with roles between men and women being divided based on physical differences between the sex. I believe those differences still exist and just need to be applied to the modern world.

Men and women are not equal, never have been, never will be. Equal opportunity for men and women is sometimes mentioned, but that is not universal. Women can have babies, men cannot. Men and women have separate sports... because they are different.

We humans will be much better off when we stop trying to make everything equal, and instead, celebrate our differences.

I never said men and women are the same. We have biological differences, but that doesn't mean we can't be treated as equals with equal rights

Because at some point it stopped being at equality. It's kind of like affirmative action. When change doesn't happen as quickly as some would like you're always going to have that militant wing of the group that wants to declare open war on the other group. So somewhere along the line the gender war grew to a point where this wings ranks swelled. And now you have disproportionate group on both sides that want blame and paint all others of that gender with the same brush for the actions of a few.

It's not about equality anymore. It's the quest for total supremacy.

You can't convince someone who don't get the difference to understand.

They aren't that smart, and certainly can't try to apply that logic to any ideal which has bad actors which all do to figure out why this makes no sense.

Stop trying to pretend feminism is not responsible for the horrible behavior of feminists.
