My toilet flushes 80% of the time. When it doesn't flush, I use the plunger several times, and it flushes just fine. Do I need a plumber? Should I get a new toilet?

It depends. If you’re using entirely way too much TO each time you wipe or whatever of course that can clog up the drain. Simple snake or pouring water down the toilet from 2-3 feet above would help force it down. But much simpler would be using the plunger as you’ve mentioned. But it also depends on how old the plumbing is. Especially if it’s on an older house. Some of the plumbing has been there for so long it’s rusted. We had a situation where this lady was having a similar situation. Turned out all her pipes were corroded, rusted. The only thing that was holding her pipes together was the sand around it. Over time they corroded, causing the toilet paper to get caught on some of the rusted, jagged parts of the pipes. I’d maybe do your business first, then flush then wipe and flush again. If you notice you’re using way too much TP I’d try cutting down on that as well. Maybe other people in the house are clogging it up.
@Goahead76 you could try that. Always start w the least expensive method, see if it works. But yea like I said depending on how old the plumbing is, it could be metal. Over time it corrodes. Hopefully that’s not the case cause yes it’s expensive for them to get in there and dig it up. Plus if they have to bust through concrete.
You don’t need a plumber , just use less toilet paper and flush 2 times if you need to , also go buy a jug of vinegar and a box of baking soda , dump half the box of baking soda into the bowl and flush it with the vinegar , and let it sit for a few hours before flushing , it will help clean your pipes
I would definitely call a plumber. I wouldn't even personally know where to begin to even try to attemp something like fixing that.
It's your pipes. They're blocked or damaged. Save up for a plumber

Everyone is talking about clogged pipes. I had a similar problem a while back and found the problem was in the toilet tank. The float and valve were not letting the water fill up to the the desired water line. I adjusted the float and problem disappeared.
Limit the toilet paper you use and do interval flushes if that fails to resolve. The quantity of toilet paper is the biggie. Had a girlfriend who was very prolific with paper and we had to pack the plunger when going on holidays cause she blocked'em all.
Incidently the accordion style plungers are better the the type in the pic.
Its possible that there is a clogged further down stream that needs to be taken care of.
Flushable wipes are not Flushable, nor are white mice aka tampons, or other similar products.
If someone gave er the daily double that would have been cleared up by now.
It could be a root issue in the pipe running to the sewer line.
Find the trap. It might be in the basement directly under the toilet. There are different tools you can use to clean it out. The trap might be built in to the toilet as well. There are pots of videos that can explain how to fix it.
It's not the toilet. Toilets are very simple. It could be a partial clog downstream. You might try a plumbing snake. If you have a handy friend, they might have one.
Don't use chemicals. You can try hot water but there's a TINY chance it will crack the bowl. Have it snaked by a plumber and go from there.
Stop flushing huge wads of toilet paper down the toilet. Do not ever flush anything down the toilet besides shit, piss, and toilet paper.
It doesn’t sound like you need a new one
You can snake it yourself pretty easily
Go to the store and buy a toilet clog drainer.
You should change your diet
Use a stool softener
