Lol nobody. The immigrants do it for cheap because Americans won't do it for cheap and paying them more would bankrupt the farms

No one. That will drive up food costs and they will blame Biden, per usual.

Actions have consequences as we do not live in a bubble. As much as a certain set are up in arms about undocumented workers, they have not thought one second about the repercussions of the effects on the cost of construction, grocery, childcare, cleaning...etc which are typical jobs taken up by undocumented workers, and how THEY will eventually be the ones to pay for these mass deportations because last time I checked, not one of these people celebrating the kicking out of undocumented workers, is ready to get out there in the scorching heat and pick strawberries or clean a toilet.

I highly recommend seeing the movie "A Day Without a Mexican."

Maybe all the retired republicans will step up. "Get me a carrot, old man." These people are not cartel. The majority are trying to do better for their families. Ask people who actually live in bordering states and interact with some of the lovely people.

People who think this way are idiots.

This is irrelevant. This is like priority number 100 on the immigration issue.

Let's use your dumb logic here. If they cannot automate or pay U. S. workers enough to do it... what is stopping them from paying the current workers to keep doing it? Why do you imply millions of illegals must endlessly come in to do this? We've got 20,000,000 or so in the country. Not enough for you? Unless the country continually is overrun by millions of endless new ones... the price of lettuce will ruin the country?

Never mind the crime, murders, rapes, gang activity, drugs, human trafficking, the overrunning of our culture... lettuce will cost.50 cents more... that is too far. Keep the invasion going.

This is too stupid to rationally address.

Nobody is lining up for these jobs. Americans will not do this kind of work. They don't know how and they don't want to do it and really almost no amount of money would be sufficient to get them to do it. There is a reason that these jobs have traditionally been done by aliens.

The people that pick these crops are some of the hardest working and sadly underpaid people in the world. We should respect them for all the hard work they do and not vilify them because they didn't fill out a form.

If the migrants stay away long enough the wages offered will increase enough to attract idle American labor, of which there is plenty. This is the law of supply and demand.

How will it go up when farms aren't making money because nobody's buying the goods that nobody is farming

@Agape93 that’s not how this works. This happened before in locales that banned renting houses to illegal aliens. The ag industry adapted within a week or two by offering significantly higher pay. In this case, the cost of food will go up, but income for low-wage jobs will rise too and more than offset the impact to the working class.

So again how will those farms pay for the higher wages of actual citizens to pick and grow produce, when the cost of farms is already high enough to routinely cause farms to go bankrupt and shut down

@Agape93 They’ll charge more for food. The cost of grain is very low by historical standards.

And who's gonna harvest that grain? And who is going to pay even more for food?

Seriously I thought you people voted for him to LOWER prices. Not raise them

@Agape93 You assume who I voted for, or that I voted at all. Anyway, I think this election was more about class resentment against elites than it was about prices per se. Sure, people in laptop class jobs would be hurt by higher consumer prices. Young men in their 20s are the demographic that swung most radically for Trump, across racial lines. Many of them were sidelined from corporate careers due to DEI/ESG (BLS statistics show it got so radical that only 6% of new jobs in major corporations went to whites during 2021, with the most radical impacts felt at the entry level, and there was a significant preference for women over men), cast into trades and labor markets that were intentionally illegally flooded with employees or simply offshored to destroy labor’s earning power. For a lot of them, the mere ability to get labor jobs, especially better paying ones, would be more beneficial than a higher price for food/consumer products would be harmful. They voted accordingly, more or less as a bloc.

What other American Industries should replace their legal American workers with illegals? Construction? Factory workers? I'm pretty sure we could all be replaced by an illegal worker.
