Should France under Louis XIV refuse Charles II's will and not declare Philippe d'Anjou the new King of Spain?

''History'' are fixed details of the past that cannot be moved or altered.
So I would only think about a ''should'' if a similar situation arises in the present.
Leading figures such as Louis XIV, Henry XIII, Hitler and Trump are necessary and inevitable hickups in ''history''.
Louis had some ways of doing things that the public did not really enjoy.
They aren't ''good for the world'' in some way. But humankind is experimental, and when there is an option to do the wrong things, there will be enough of us to go and try it.
If it's not one specific person today, then perhaps one other person tomorrow.
I see it according to ''Murphy's (original) Law''
Absolutism, giving a shit for the common people
We have one King over here as well.
And - indeed - ''bad words'' are prohibited by law. So I will -officially- agree with you.
Gunno if it qualifies one to be a monarch, but I really dig Philippes pears... they're awesome
