I was uncomfortable with it ALONE. Then I read through and curious to see what the father was.

It’s inconsistent so I really hope this is a joke. Really. No- like- I really, really do.

It’d be horrible if that’s how sons would come to view their mother. Horrible. Disrespectful. They can make that legal, but I’d just homeschool my kids and ensure they call me mom. How horrible. So now we celebrate “inseminated person day?” What the crap.

It highlights the semen which comes from the man. So she’s just the receiver then? Even the semen are people to be later in life and they’re getting the credit for her incubation period, nursing period, and bonding experiences. Teaching and protecting. Comforting and assuring. Befriending. Take all that away and just call her a slime person. What the crap. I’d never accept that. If I hear ANYONE use that with me in a public conversation I’ll just see myself out and see to it I never see their face again. What a truly horrible thing. To me- there’s no recovering from that. That’s the end of all humanity right there. That and global warming. With the other things I refuse to list but that’s just the last straw. The rotten cherry on top. In medical diagnosing the difference in these wording is life or death. How many medical drama get held up by wording like the child is adopted dealing with genetic condition.

Parents "I love my child as my own."

Doctor "i don't give a fuck about family dynamics. I need accurate information of the patient history."

So the "medical gaze" of expert doctors looking at information gathering should be more neutral and more block based. It depersonalize that will actually helps figuring out what's wrong and potential save the person's life.

At the same time People living everyday shouldn't dehumanize daily life. Even doctors interact and speaking to patients shouldn't use the "medical gaze" but note taking should.

They aren't changing the word mother, they're changing the word they use to refer to mothers (and other people) in certain contexts.

This is most often done to be more accurate and/or efficient. Like for example a surrogate, that's not the "mother" but it is the "inseminated person." If the state refers to them all as "mothers" it can be confusing and contradictory sometimes, so changing the word used to refer to these people to "inseminated person" instead, specifically in blanket statements in state context, makes more sense.

The other ones are just simpler, rather than using 3 words they can use 1 which means both and. These are clearly cases of trying to be more clear and literal with word choice. I don't see a problem with it.

An inseminated person is different from a mother. You're not a mother until you've birthed a child, by definition. Same applies to the male; you're not the father until the child is birthed. Until then, the male is the "biological inseminator". If there were to be a miscarriage, neither would be "parents", again by definition. Emotionally, that's a different story.

So for that particular word or terminology, I think it's a good distinction.
