@jennz6 I can only speak for myself, but I'm very risk averse and hate conflict. I do my best to understand all sides and empathize with everyone. But I'm not a political person at all and so I choose not to take sides publicly in today's divisive politics.

I will say I admire Kristy Noem though, not necessarily for her politics but for her ability to perform front and center in such a public role. I could never do that but I admire women who can.

I'm concerned about the use of the War Powers Act and the fact that they are not merely being deported, but held in a maximum security prison for "terrorists" without any formal charges being brought or chance to prove their innocence. It's just a black hole. Nobody even knows the conditions of that prison.

It's what Israel does to thousands of Palestinians.

A central outstanding question about the deportees' status is when and how they could ever be released from the prison, called the Terrorism Confinement Center, known as CECOT, as they are not serving sentences. They no longer appear in U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's online detainee locator and have not appeared before a judge in El Salvador. They have basically been disappeared.

The Trump administration refers to them as the "worst of the worst" but hasn't identified who was deported or provided evidence that they're gang members.

The U. S. government has acknowledged that many do not have criminal records.

Now the government is abducting graduate students and others for merely criticizing Israel. What's next?

Don't have a 401k well hopefully you inherit millions because at your age you'll need prob 2 to 3 mill to retire. Even if I don't agree with your opinion, I genuinely do hope you start saving for retirement, or are rich and don't need to because I don't believe anyone should work hard their whole life and then have nothing to survive on in retirement. Your boss is coming for social security and that alone won't be enough for you to survive on even if it does.

What companies are making here because of the tarrifs? I see Honda which already builds cars here add the new civic hybrid to be built here to avoid tarrifs. Japanese car manufacturers have used foreign direct investment like building plants here for a long time. So regarding tarrifs he is using Americans as bait because tarrifs are paid by us not the country. Yes, it seems to be very effective. It costs $20,000 a year to keep them in prison in San Salvador. In the US it costs between $80,000 to $100,000 to incarcerate them in the US. It costs $50,000 in welfare and other benefits just to leave them on the street. Eventually President Trump will find a place to send them permanently.

How do you know "they are here illegally" without due process? You don't. You only have the government's word for it. Also, you can (and most immigrants do) fly in legally. If you overstay your permission that's a civil offence, not a criminal one.

I think in our effort to be "humane," prison has lost it's deterrent effect. It doesn't help that prosecutors often choose not to enforce laws and let criminals walk. I think it's smart to re-introduce the fear of going to prison for breaking the law.
