7 moYou REALLY need 10 million to do anything positive with your life and to help others.
I'd create college funds for historically black universities and funds for women, especially single mothers, to get through college or train for jobs.
I'd set up a fund to finance PBS documentaries in science, nature, history.
I'd build low-income housing and set up a low-income housing fund to educate low-income, first-time homeowners on what they need to know to keep up their homes.
I would support development of better, safer contraceptives, and support groups who are keeping contraceptive choice alive.I'd buy up several empty blocks around my city to create pocket parks in underserved areas as well as create neighborhood gardens in those areas. I'd provide supplies such as seeds, fertilizer and offer training so people can learn basic gardening and buy fruit trees where these can be grown.
I'd invest at least 3 million of the 10 to keep the funding alive for future financing of these programs.
For myself, I'd buy a city block in my neighborhood, put in a neighborhood garden and pocket park, devote one third of the housing to low-income renters and move in the rest of my relatives and friends who'd care to live in my housing/park/garden neighborhood!
I'd do a little world traveling with friends and relatives.20 Reply

In terms of lifetime, it's not that much. $10,000 and putting it in roth 401k or roth ira at 18 turns into almost 10 million. So if you're not retirement age already max those two things out. So still working like nothing happened.
If you're smart you'll hire a fiduciary wealth manager at a rate of 1% per year. Better money they make for you the better money they make. Because all your income is stored away in the 401k you'll give yourself an allowance of your needs. Pretty fixed income.
Maybe buy a house if intrest rates are lower then 5% (mines legendary low from early 2020 at 3% so easy get). In theory your money in the market makes like 7% so you'll make a profit in a 30 year mortgage from a bank loan compared to the same cash being used to out right pay the morgage off. So easy 1 to 1 investment.
But Also saying fuck it I'm free to do whatever whenever is potential more valuable in terms of renting and moving. Buying a house is good if you're in it for the long haul 10 plus years. it's not an automatic go to move anymore for majority of people to be honest.

I would give him the money to rebuild everything he had before.

After that I'd buy a property that can be set up as a shelter for men who have been on the bad end of Domestic Violence, as there are none here in the UK, and I'd recruit homeless Ex forces as staff and security.

7 moGet with my financial advisor and talk out my gameplan. With all of the investments I currently have growing this should be more than enough to retire and we'd talk out how best to do that.
Then I'd pursue my hobbies and travel.
