Why does a woman get to stay in the US if they give birth here?

Illegal aliens come to this country and then have a baby here. The baby is a citizen but the mother also gets to stay and gets welfare benefits forever and ever. Democrats say that it is inhumane to "break up a family". There are American women that have children that commit crimes and are sent to prison. Nobody cares that a mother is separated from their child. Why do we have this double standard?

This is why there is an effort underway to clarify birthright citizenship. in my opinion, birthright citizenship should only apply if the parents are in the country legally (even if they aren't citizens). And in my opinion the mothers should still be deported, and the mother can choose whether she wants to take her baby with her or leave him here with a legal guardian or give him up for adoption.

The previous policy of allowing illegal immigrant mothers to stay just because she had an "anchor baby" inside the US was always wrong, and a gaming of the system.

There is a LARGE and very relevant LEGAL difference between legal and illegal immigration. I support legal immigration - nearly all of my ancestors were (legal) immigrants to the US. We have rules for immigration in this country that apply to ALL immigrants - but those who bypass the legal process and then live off taxpayer money I have no sympathy for. And neither do the vast majority of LEGAL immigrants, who can't stand to see people cutting the line that they patiently waited in and paid real money to be processed by.

Why do YOU think it's okay for people to bypass the legal process, especially at great taxpayer expense? How is that fair to everyone else?

You have a gross misunderstanding of the laws in the US if you really think nobody cares about mothers going to prison. It’s an absolute fact that women are protected more than men by every facet of our legal system. For any given crime… with every interaction with law enforcement, men are more likely than women to be arrested. For every arrest, men are more likely than women to be charged. For every charge, men are more likely than women to be tried without the benefit of a plea offer. For every trial, men are more likely than women to be convicted. For every conviction, men are much more likely to receive much stricter sentences than women. For every sentence to prison, women are much more likely than men to be released early. This is a new one i just learned about recently. Women are more likely than men to have convictions overturned or sentences commuted upon appeals.
This all boils down to the fact that women are still considered more valuable than men, especially if they’re mothers. There are reasons that women get child custody in over eighty percent of contested cases, despite the tender years doctrine being debunked decades ago. Most people believe the worst mother on the planet is more valuable than the best father. People will say that’s not true. But the laws wouldn’t be written and enforced the way that they are, the way that they have been for over a century, if it weren’t true.
The writing is on the wall. Nobody just wants to admit to contributing to a completely broken system.

I went round and round with the Libby German that believes American children are being deported. He wouldn't commit to that, because his goal in life and the reason he can't sleep at night is because Trump is the president of the United states. Anchor baby American citizens are not being deported. Their mothers are being deported. If their mothers choose to bring their children with them, the American government will pay for their free plane ticket.
What these idiots won't talk about, is why hospitals near the border have closed their doors.
I talked to an obstetrician that closed his practice.
He said his malpractice insurance was almost equal to what his salary was. Now just imagine how that works on the border where nobody pays anything. It's not sustainable.
So why do their mothers get to stay in america? Because the birthright citizenship law has been perverted. The 14th amendment was meant for N**** slaves. And rightfully so. But the Democrats think it now applies the entire world. It's no longer about slavery. The supreme Court will be deciding on this in October.

Not an American but I will be interested in how your Scotus interprets jurisdiction in your 14th amendment. It seems to me it must mean subject so if an illegal gives birth the child is not a citizen if neither parent is.

I am also curious if illegal counts in allocating congressional districts. Surely it should be only citizens that count and illegals not count?
