Im black and i want to know
412 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. https://www.youtube.com/embed/X-5LY4EbR_AYou're not really talking about black people. You're talking about a small subset of black people who are descended from slaves (selected on the basis of physical strength), and have ended up in a country (like the US or UK) with a lot of money to spend on sports science and athlete funding, and where their other career prospects would otherwise be limited due to poverty and discrimination compared to white people.
Interestingly, black people from parts of East Africa - like Kenya and Ethiopia, where slavery wan't so widespread (most came from West Africa for obvious logistical reasons) - now excel in long distance running, which doesn't require strength or fast-twitch muscle fibres etc. And again, take a guy from somewhere in East Africa like Somalia, send him to a country like the UK, with more money to spend on sports science and athlete funding, and you get 4 times Olympic and 6 times World champion, Sir Mo Farah.
Obviously culture is an issue too, though. You don't see too many black skiers or swimmers, for example. Asian people might question why white people are so bad at sports, based on the fact that Asians have historically dominated in the sports that are most popular there - table tennis, badminton (to be fair, Danes are pretty good at that), etc.00 Reply

10 moThat’s a bold question. Let’s see how long it lasts. Especially when someone posts a truthful answer.
When Africans were being bought and sold like livestock, the purpose was primarily slave labor. Generations of selective breeding for size, strength and endurance ensured that their descendants would have natural physical prowess for the benefit of their owners. Those genetic gifts persisted long after slavery was outlawed. More contemporarily, black people were still kept from quality education, especially higher education. More or less free to participate in capitalism with the rest of us, but otherwise left out of certain privileged areas, getting into colleges through athletic programs was literally the only way many black people had such opportunity. Later yet, those who were exceptional even at university athletics have had opportunities in professional sports. For a long time, it was the primary path for free blacks to prosper. Evolutionary biology is real.00 Reply

Blacks evolved in the jungle where to escape predators selection would be for speed, quickness, and jumping needed to excel at sports. In the frozen North with fewer predators less food selection would favor other abilities such as greater intelligence to develop greater hunting skills and long-term planning to account for long periods where food my not be available.

10 moThere are roughly 10,000 sports world wide and Blacks are known for playing only a handful of them. Primary 2 sports which just so happen to be promoted by American media, and a couple of Summer Olympic sports centered around running. In reality, Blacks are only good in a very small niche, and that's because culturally they have focused on those couple of sports in the hopes of making it big, where as many other races have been told it's long shot to be a pro at any sport and professional careers generally are short lived so go get an education or start a business if you want to be successful in life. So as kids, other races are generally very good at sports, but then they are steered towards normal careers where as many blacks are steered toward crime, jail, welfare, and a long shot as sports.

There are about 16,500 professional athlete jobs with an average annual wage was $79,460. There are over 38 million STEM jobs with an average annual wage of $97,980. So generally other races races are told to go for the statically more likely path to success in life. Could you earn much than that if you are the best of the best in a very popular sport for several years? Sure, but you also earn a tens of millions of dollars a year as the CEO of top companies year after year after year if you are at the top of your game even when you get old.

So the question you have to ask yourself is why do you believe a race that is only good at 2 or 3 sport, are good at sports in general? Clearly the media has influenced you. Now ask yourself, what does the media cover? They cover whatever they can get advertisers to pay for... Who do advertisers target? They target people they feel they can emotionally manipulate, who they assume are dumb like a child. They methodically do that every day to drive impulse purchases. So why do you think the media focuses specifically on Basketball and Football? Who are the main race of players in those games? What racial audience will live vicariously through that race of athletes? Now you know what advertisers think of Black people... Is it ethical...

A lot more Black people in TV commercials these days right? There's your answer...
1.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. They are not. The media just likes to push bs ideas like that. When White people accomplish the same thing or greater it gets much less publicity than when a Black person does.
You must be focusing on basketball (not the WNBA of course since most Black people support the open and repeated racism against Caitlin Clark), and running. You certainly aren't focusing on MMA, Wrestling, Weight Lifting, Gymnastics, Ice Skating, Triathalon, Rowing, Swimming, Diving, Fencing, Archery, or the other MANY sports where Black people have performed poorly for many generations and where most sports are dominated by White people. RIGHT? Hmm.

Anonymous(30-35)10 moit's mostly genetics but it depends on the sport too
sports that involve physicality and athleticism i. e. basketball, soccer, boxing are sports they excel at
tennis, hockey, baseball, cycling? yes they can excel but as an exception to the rule
table tennis, swimming? yeah you can forget it... there are some sports that black people aren't really built for excelling at
20 ReplyThe skin colour black shows that it has gone through a lot of physical hard work without ever worrying about getting a sun tan or getting dark and that spirit of hardwork is passed on through generations along with the skin colour. the continuous hard work keeps the blood flow at high temperatures too Hence it is in their genes.

10 moSome black people are very big and strong, other ones are short and fat. Obviously not all black people are good at sports. If you are a black person who's built to compete, then some black people seem to excel at certain sports that they specifically train for.

10 moIt doesn't have anything to do with being black. It's a matter of options. See if you can find some statistics for blacks compared to whites when they both have similar socioeconomic opportunities and upbringing.

10 moNot sure how much evidence supports this, but here's one theory...
Blacks buy $300 Nikes and play sports.
Whites buy $300 video consoles and play video games.

10 moThey aren't in my own sports... in general, that is: sailboat racing.
Probably ''black'' people are just as good as other 'colours', depending in what or where they compete in?
00 Reply 27.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I suppose that they dominate the NBA because many are exceptionally tall and now it is a cultural phenomenon. I do not think as a rule they dominate any of the other major sports.
00 Reply12.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Partly genetics, partly culture. Why are short wiry white men from Canada good at hockey?

10 moYears ago, MANY, MANY fewer opportunities for a lucrative career and societal respect. Now, likely (in some cases) the genes inherited by a few offspring of some ELITE black athletes.

10 moIt’s because of their genes, I believe.

Anonymous(30-35)10 moWithout a doubt most black people are good at sports. But they also are good at a lot of other things. But unfortunately a lot of the ghetto trash people hold them back.
