As someone who comes from a country that does not have the same level polarisation in ethics, values, virtues and politics, I'd probably say that acknowledging the atrocities of October 7th goes a long way.

In my case, when Israel first invaded with the objective of eliminating Hamas, I was fully in favor of that. The country was attacked and there was a fiery response. If this happened in any country I'm sure the response would be similarly vehement.

Even the USA responded in kind after the tragedy of 9/11. The military saw a record number of enlistment which goes to show the anger, paranoia and the demand for justice that the people at that time held.

But now it's gotten to a point where the retaliation has become grossly disproportionate and it has taken on an image of a reckless attempt at purging and obliteration.

We know Hamas uses civilians as human shields and we know they use many public institutions as military bases of sorts but if the Israeli intelligence are able to execute a joint elimination of 1,500 Hezbollah militants including leading figures as well as assassinating the leader of Hamas in Tehran of all places, could they not have approached Gaza with the same level of cerebrality and meticuliusness?

But this is just how'd I'd argue it without coming off as anti-semitic: If you are Pro-Israel you must still acknowledge their faults and shortcomings. Ultimately, conflicts are never black and white. The bombing of Dresden in WWII alone killed 25,000 civilians. Recent estimates indicate over 300,000 civilians were killed in Germany through strategic bombings missions conducted by allied forces but was it necessary to reach a conclusion of that war?
