All I know is beauty standards are created by constant exposure to social media and capitalism to fuel our insecurities so we can spend more money to look a certain way. I’m not sure if it’s tied to the patriarchy. I’m sure every man has their own preferences, not necessarily they would expect women to fit the beauty standards.

The patriarchy has absolutely nothing to do with beauty standards. Those are driven almost entirely by women and gay men in western countries.
Patriarch means “father”. Fathers love and protect their women and children, even when they don’t necessarily want protection. That is what patriarchy means. In almost every case, mothers are the ones driving beauty standards for their daughters, and largely for their sons too. This is because we are products of evolutionary biology. Women sought acceptance through beauty for most of human history. Men sought acceptance by being protectors and providers. Contrary to popular rhetoric, we have not grown far from that heritage.
The patriarchy still exists. It will take generations to breed out men’s intrinsic desires to provide and protect. Nobody is going to be happy about it when that age comes.

The beauty standards women face absolutely are connected to patriarchal influences. This goes back to the whole thing about how women have no rights without a man in their life, if it’s not their father then it’s their husband and if a woman isn’t allowed to be anything but a wife (which, if you live in the western world, has only changed in this last century) and a woman can’t be a successful wife without a rich husband. Cosmetics and the social pressures of beauty standards are still heavily connected to the sentiment that a woman has to be beautiful in order to “succeed” by attracting and marrying a rich husband.

Yes the Divided States Of America were founded as and remain a Patriarchy. And the butthurt boys whine like toddlers at every small loss of male privilege.
