It’s already tax payer money that pays these cops salaries ( might I add that a RIDICULOUS amount gets taken away from us). But the fact that cops lie in wait just to catch someone who is going 10 miles over the limit or to catch someone doing a rolling stop while there’s no other cars in sight is absolutely disgusting. These are not safety measures. They are milking people for money measures. It isn’t just the court that you have to pay, traffic citations will also inevitably come with higher car insurance rates. The whole thing is just one massive scam. I think this is an area of our society that needs some massive overhaul.

I agree in a lot of ways but the alternative is worse. If people wasn't so hard just getting by day to day doing some charitable work in the community would be preferable.

Ultimately is more expensive for the community keeping track of time and for the individual already stretched thin. Cash is called liquidity for a reason. Shapeless and fixes an issue.

At the same time government shouldn't be a buisness. On the other hand you can't shake down someone who is liable for huge damages when an accident does happen because they are broke like all of us. The money just dosen't exist in the first place.

Robot cars is interesting. Probably subscribe to the service like insurance today. I don't like isolated car radar system right now. adaptive cruise control so to speak but a hive mind of cars all communicating is going to be the future.

We have traffic fines to discourage dangerous driving. Do you believe we should have people driving 120mph (200kph) on freeways, or 60mph (100kph) on city streets? What about drag racing, or other dangerous driving? Speeding through school zones when children are present?

Most of the people I see driving 100 on the freeway are driving dangerously, passing too close to other cars. If the traffic is light, and they are not endangering other drivers, then I don't have a problem.

Disagree. It's easy to not get traffic fines, just don't break the law. Especially given how many cars nowadays have limiters etc it's so easy to avoid. Just doing 10mph over the speed limit can have a massive impact t on the chance of someone surviving if you hit them.
Traffic laws are not there to protect you, you want to get yourself killed go right ahead. They are there to protect those around you

What other means for enforcement and compliance did you have mind? Besides, what you’re describing having a problem with, is entrapment —right? Those speed trap sorta, where they hide and wait?
I just wish people could do community service instead of, or in addition to, monetary fines.

I agree , I think that is totally slanted towards the rich. A $500 fine and a surcharge on your insurance for 5 years is not a big deal if you are rich. If you are just a middle class wage earner it is a big deal. I think that everyone, no matter how rich they are, has to wear an orange vest and pick up trash by the side of the road.

I haven’t gotten a ticket in 11 years. But I don’t claim to be a perfect driver. I’ve caught myself going over. Some cops are out to meet a quota, some are lazy, some have good eyes. Just drive careful, it’ll just lower ur chances a lot from getting a citation.

The money should go to the same fund they use to pay for section 8 or something. And the police should be penalized for making too many citations and the ratio of crime hasn't gotten better relative.
