How do you feel about the end of government showdown?

President Donald Trump signed legislation late Wednesday to end the government shutdown that spanned 43 days, punting the next funding deadline into late January.

The package includes a three-bill “minibus” of full-year funding for the Department of Agriculture and the FDA, the Department of Veterans Affairs and military construction projects and the operations of Congress. The trio of bills is the result of months of bipartisan, bicameral negotiations between top appropriators.

Under the measure, all other agencies are funded through Jan. 30, giving some — but not much — time for another round of spending fights among appropriators who want to avoid another stopgap for the remainder of the fiscal year.

The Senate voted 60-40 to break fillibuster with 8 Democrats voting to support it: Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen of Nevada, Maggie Hassan and Jeabbe Shaheen of New Hampshire, John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, Dick Durbin of Illinois, Tim Kaine of Virginia and Angus King of Maine. One Republican senator (Rand Paul of Kentucky) voted against it.

Afterwards, the House of Representatives passed the funding 222-209. Two Republicans joined Democrats in opposition to the measure, Reps. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Greg Steube of Florida. Otherwise, Speaker Mike Johnson’s conference stuck together to back the funding package endorsed by the president. 6 Democrats voted for it: Jared Golden of Maine, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington, Adam Gray of California, Henry Cuellar of Texas, Tom Suozzi of New York and Don Davis of North Carolina.

Since the democrats got nothing, the whole shutdown was pretty much pointless. Also, Angus King is a complete and total moron. It was working, SNAP shouldn't have been an issue, at least to those who still follow the laws. I wanted to see how long the GOP would have refused to put in a provision to keep the only system keeping millions of Americans on health insurance. There's actually a strong possibility The Senate will pass a bill on to The House that can band-aid the problem until a new plan is actually in place.

It was another grandiose bullying grift by the king of grifts. There's no way they'll fund subsidies for Obamacare in the future. The Dems will have to get control back in order to make that happen.

Great news though: Trump is now the leader of government shutdown days for all Presidents, as well as the two LONGEST shutdowns in US History! He's #1. LOL

Depressed. I have voted as a Republican for 8 years to shut this fucking government down and it took the Democrats to shut it down for over 40 days... cool. The Democrats can get it done. Great idea. No government, no tax. As for Congress not getting paid? I would go a step farther. They should not get paid AND fined for not doing their jobs. There will never be another shutdown again.
